Is it just me, or are there stupid numbers of scam adverts in the campervan / motorhome section of eBay at the moment?

Looking around for something small, but well equipped and nice to drive (so that rules out Berlingos and similar!) - a Bongo or Toyota Previa / Elgrand / Noah would do the trick. Not many scams for these - but there are dozens of scam adverts for VW Transporters - like fully camper converted 2007 models for under 5 grand.

Are people really still falling for these?

If they weren't falling for them people wouldn't post them.

If you ever meet anyone who works in credit card charge back spend 10 minutes listening to their tales and then ask yourself again how gullible some people can be.

The answer is 'very', to the point some people should have a guardian when it comes to their credit card.

The amount of fake ads for campers is beyond. An auction ends within a day or so it's back up on a fake ad for a few grand. Most of the ads ask you to leave contact details and a phone number.

A common scam.

Ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201685082112

Original listing:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232098197661

So, half the price it was a couple of weeks ago. The car can't be viewed as it's 'in Ireland' and they want a quick sale. Sellers email amy@netbt.co.uk if anyone here wants to buy!!

It seems it's not just the ads ... my knaus is up for sale on there . I have had a named text from Stanley whoever he may be asking for me to contact him via email at stanleye00@Gmail.com for my offer . Hmmmm How do they get these text services that give a name but cannot be replied to ? My dentist uses the same thing ...you would think they would be easily traced.

I emailed him to wind the up. I got an email response from 'ebay' with an offer on an item from him. My email was used from an account that I used on ebay a long time ago and isn't now used so there is nothing for sale there. The 'ebay' email needs me to log in and goes (naturally) to an 'ebay' sign in page but the website is DRYBAGS.RU.
This part of the scam is therefore to steal ebay sign in information?

They need new ebay accounts to perpetuate their scams. People like my mum and dad would probably fall for it.

It looked very legitimate. They couldn't have got my ebay account from my email address alone - this is just them knowing I have one and sending an offer page leading to a (Russian) login. Send that out to thousands and lots will fall for it.

Well done, I wondered what the scam was...I hadn't considered it being a way of getting my login details . Scumbags.

Shocking amount of new MH scam listings appeared over the last few days. I was getting fished in by a seller called Amy until i googled her e-mail address and all the alarm bells went off at once. Finished my e-mail exchange with her by sending her a screen shot of the sites she's being mentioned on as a scammer. The search for a new MH continues
