I've posted this on another forum too so if you've already seen it, my apologies.

We're planning to go this weekend to the Motorhome and Caravan show this Saturday and I tried to book in the on-site temp camp site for somewhere to stay Friday night but they've been full since late July. Phoned three or four other local sites but all fully booked too. One site asked me if I wanted to book for next year

Not willing to easily give up, I then spoke with the Traffic Office at NEC and asked if we can just stay in their car park for the night and they said if we tried to do that "Security" would knock us up every hour and tell us to move on. Asked if they had any suggestions and they then put me on to Lincoln Farm on Kenilworth Road, about four miles from NEC.

Called them and this is primarily an overnight truckstop so very secure with high fences all round the compound and security on site. Spoke to them and the chappie there said just turn up and they'll slot us in, £15 for the night. I guess there's no electric, but I'm sure we can survive one night without the TV frown

Postcode is B92 0LS and Google streetmap shows full details. Probably not the most salubrious place to stay but safer than a local Tesco or layby I reckon. Any port in a storm eh?

Anybody whop sees a Swift Lifestyle there on Friday night is more than welcome to buy me a beer beerbiggrin

Drayton Manor Camping and Caravanning Club have spaces. Not too far away, if we camp that is probably where we will head.

Thanks for that, just called them no space for Friday with electric and two night minimum stay so comes out best part of £30. They'll do one night no electric for £14.30

Last year I turned up at NEC quite late in evening and parked in one of the general car parks. No problem at all from security and quite a few more vans turned up after us. Obviously no guarantee that it will be the same as last year

15 quid for an overnight in a layby is a disgrace to be honest considering what you get on the continent for nothing! Add the 12 quid to park in the NEC for the day and it's a dear do!
