I'd be tempted to hire the estate car and bring a tent, simply to avoid having to do so many miles up and down the country in a van when a car is an option. Also, the roads up here are easier to drive the more nimble the vehicle. I'd rather throw a Passat estate up the A87 than a Merc sprinter.

Another point of consideration would be condensation. I understand it can be an issue when normal vans are used for camping, water dripping from the roof in the night.

A Zafira is about £450 per week.

Room for dogs and kit.

Then just find a nice campsite.

Yes it is!

Worth smothering yourself in Avon Skin so Soft, hoping for windy days and avoiding still water edges late in the day.

If you are having a BBQ on the shores of a nice still Loch as the sun begins to drop for the day, there is a good chance you will become the eaten as much as the eater!
