I am towing a stripped out fiat coupe on a Iffor Williams twin axle trailor. The coupe is about 1250 kilo and trailor about 500 kilo.

I tow with a Renault master 120 front wheel drive camper.

I had a custom tow bar fabricated by UK Towbars. It accounted for the extended chassis.

Absolutely no problems with it.

I'm based in France with regular runs up to Spa (900 klm)and into the uk.

A couple of pics.

Indeed for race circuits it’s not too bad even with an 8mtr trailer on the back but hillclimbs are so tight unless you in first & out last at most places it a bit of a stress raiser for sure.

Got to say we love time in our truck & I’m sure you will too great family time all together in a small place so no kids hiding away in their own bedrooms, just come back from 14 days in the south of France & lake Annecy had a fabulous time, going to go for a month next trip.

Now on hols in Abu Dhabi, ah the joys of early retirement lol
Don't blame you ! Enjoy smile

That setup looks very similar to what i will end up with.My Caterham only weighs 420Kg and the spare wheels are very light being Magnesium centres but will still only have a light open trailer like yours.

I owned a 20v Coupe in Red years ago and loved it.

Yes the Fiat gets under the skin that's for sure.

The garage / storage area at the back is wonderfull. It takes all the spare kit needed for track days and more. The fixed double bed is above it inside the van.

I looked at someone's camper last year and thier store was a bit bigger. They had a pair of 125 cc trial bikes in the back. Brilliant idea and safe from thieves.

The loaded trailor and camper tow's very well. On the autoroute I can keep up with most traffic and easily pass hgv's etc.

The agile gearbox (automated Manual) has a number of issues I'd need to talk you through so you are fully informed too much to type here but saying that mines never missed a beat in 7 years however it's only done 16,000 miles.
Ah, THAT box. My work vans have that, it is a really marmite box you either love it or hate it to drive. Couple of my colleagues refuse to touch it now we have Merc sprinters with 'normal' automatic gearboxes. Personally I love it. The clutch control is a bit naff, it can lurch a bit especially in reverse, and if you try to go up a steep hill without flooring the throttle or holding it in manual it will stall out looking for gears. You can however, jam it in manual mode, and unlike the Merc box it stays in manual, I drive it like a sequential manual.

You also learn to left foot brake on hill starts using it.

I made the mistake of first buying a Fiat Ducato based MH and got stuck on flat grass with some light rain. Completely useless. I also tow about 2t with car and marquee etc.

I upgraded to a 5t sprinter with the 180 engine and it is so much better for it.
