Has anyone read anything about whether Michelle Fairley is going to be in Season 4? I'm assuming she will be at some point?

Not read anything, but I have a suspicion that she may turn up in the last/penultimate episode - would be a great shock reveal for those that haven't read the books smile Have to be so careful when discussing the show with non-book readers.

I also guess the same thing. She would have been required for only one scene.
And for your second point, that's why we have this thread! biggrin

For me personally, not at all. I love AFFC. Others have whined about lack of action, doesn't progress the plot etc. I disagree with them. I wondered on your take as a new reader.
For me it progresses the story as much as any other book.

If you like Breinne it's great. Otherwise it's painfully dull and plodding. Literally.

I thought it was over-long and very week. ADWD is much better...

I thought AFFC and ADWD both suffered from the same problems. Too many new POV characters who are often uninteresting and slow down plot progression to a crawl and nothing to do for some key characters from earlier books (Tyrion & Dany mainly) in what was after all originally intended to be the interlude between the original trilogy and the end game.

I need to revisit the last 2 books I think before the newest is written as it's been a while. Need a little update on conspiracy theories really.

I remember figuring out (or thinking I had) the story of Jon's lineage when I read them and looking now, some of the internet seems to agree with what I thought.

Jon's parents were R and L

Is this the general consensus then?

Are there any other intriguing bits of plot and things to figure out that I've forgotten since being away from the books?

I think it's a solid theory which makes sense.
And yeah, there are looooaaaaad of subplots/theories out there!
The mystery knight? The daddy of Jojen being responsible for the whole next sequence of events? etc. biggrin

GRR has given this some serious thought.
The fall of Valyeria and the Maesters for one, that's a mental one.

Hmmm, don't recall this one. Care to share?

I think most of it is humorous.
Howland Reed was the wimpy lil kid who went to the famous tourney and got beat up by nasty kids. Lyanna Stark then did the dressing as a knight thing to right the wrong, which appears to have stoked...can't remember his name, the young dragon's fires.
Rhygaer (ah his name) then runs off with Lyanna and Robert (knobhead) goes after her kick-starting the rebellion which leads to Robert's reign and ultimately the events in the books.

I think Howland and his people, who have all been absent (save for the two kids and poison darts) will have an impact on the war. Howland was the only man to be left standing with Ned, and quite possibly knows the truth of what happened with Ned and Lyanna, the tortuous promise Ned made which haunted him.

A time for wolves.... biggrin

Which links in nicely with what I mentioned above! I'd forgotten that anyone else knew, if indeed the story does go that way.

Could GRRM realise this is a popular theory and write it out of the coming books. Would a writer even do that...? I hope not.

Most writers I would say no but GRRM I could imagine him doing exactly that.

Every interview I have seen with him gives the impression he enjoys messing with fans
