moore is the pinnacle, read league of extraordinary gentlemen if you want something with a LOT of layering and references. very, very good. 1969 version is out imminently.
I have vol I&II, and Century...I am gonna have to pay a visit to Forbidden Planet to get the Black Dossier.moore is the pinnacle, read league of extraordinary gentlemen if you want something with a LOT of layering and references. very, very good. 1969 version is out imminently.
black dossier is mental as the day is long. the first time you read it you might be a little disappointed, but you'll keep going back to it over and over and suddenly it all clicks like a magic eye picture. i wasn't mad on century 1910 but i'm assuming when all 3 centurys are read together it'll be a bit special.
i'm a bit worried he keeps hinting at the dark side of the moon, 'cos moore seems to suggest a lot of stuff that ends up coming true. the start of black dossier shows britain after the labour years, returning to free enterprise. it's VERY apt.

yeah, at the end of league 1910 he has part of a short story about mina travelling to the moon. prospero asks her to do it and alludes to there being something there that he doesn't think mankind should now about. maybe something to do with the nature of ficticious characters and how they're real in that world?

I've read the odd graphic novel here and there - Watchmen still being the standout if I'm honest!
Watchmen was the first graphic novel I have ever read. I read it only recently when the movie became news.Stunning.
Totally different experience to a book, or a comic or anything else. A different art form entirely. I am quite in awe of what awaits in the genre to be honest...

i look back at a lot of his v for vendetta ideas and watchmen, come to that. the breadth of ideas and theories he uses/creates always seem to end up being mirrored in the real world. media perception/control, military power struggles, hero worship. he scares the st out of me.
and then he goes and does that simpsons cameo. they must have been geeking out over having him there.

Did you catch him on Stewart Lee's show, that was a curious little cameo.Y282 said:

Yip, he was pretending to be a historian and they went on a dig in a WW2 bunker, after the secret that Churchill was really a pig...bizarre.Shinobi said:
WE3 is a very good book,I tend to mainly read Marvel stuff but have stopped recently due to losing interest but I usually read anything that involves Captain America as I have almost every issue of it.
Was a huge Marvel fan, but they kill off characters just to reuse them...ok once is fair enough, but they do it over and over.I do still buy MGNs because they have good enclosed stories, like WWHulk, or Civil War, the Ultimates stuff is good as well.
