Just finished the latest Reacher.... "Never Go Back"

Definately a return to form, I felt the last couple of books to be somewhat weak compared to earlier efforts.
This one had me gripped from the first couple of pages and I read it in 2 sittings!

I'm too tight. hehe
I'll wait until the price drops - £7.20 is way too rich for my blood. I've read the others and they were all less than £4 each IIRC.

I watched the film and enjoyed it as a standalone piece, but for me this was just a guy called Jack Reacher, not the character from the novels.

I would also recommend Jack Noble by L.T. Ryan. Pretty new to the scene, only 2 or 3 books at present, but I enjoyed them. Currently free (kindle download) on amazon UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Noble-Intentions-Season-Ep...

I thought it was a very poor adaptation of the book cut out so much missed so many key characters and storyline , last but not least Tom Cruise made a very poor JR it should have been Liam Neeson no question a perfect fit.

You've read 18 books in under 6 months! How?

18 books in 6 months is not a very taxing target - I reckon I could read three a week if I wanted to, and didn't have much on apart from work.

When the kids go to bed, I read..... When I commute for several hours a day, I read..... Plus, stuff like Harry Bosche is quite light, I couldn't do the works of Dickens or Shakespeare in six months. smile

They're police/detective thrillers rather than the 'wandering vigilante' genre. No less enjoyable though. Having said that, I've just read 'Flesh House' and the ending left me a bit dissatisfied.

Funnily enough that's the last one I read as well - I didn't do them in order as I bought them as I found them, and his latest release is another Ash Henderson.

How about the Harry Hole series ? Jo Nesbo.

Thick and deep plot lines with many misguided angles - also very brutal

Many of Christopher Brookmyre's books have recurring characters and elements of the thriller/shoot-em-up genre. Very funny as well, although you might need the ear for a Scottish accent with some of them. And there's anothe Scottish author, Craig Russell, who's written three or four novels in the 'Lennox' series about a private detective based in 1950s Glasgow.

Different genre, but I enjoy the Richard Montanari detective series with Jessica Balzano and Kevin Byrne as the central characters.
