I used to get them from the library or 50p from the charity shops. Wouldn't pay a tenner for the latest release as it'll be in the charity shops in 6 months.

Is there a new one due ?

September was usually the month when they were released.

25th October, from the descripton it sounds good

I am reading no.8 at the moment (new one is 27), starting again in order and they are absolutely superb

Anyone read this?

For the first time I’m blanking at the price point. I’d pay the money for a Lee Child but have been thoroughly underwhelmed by his brother.

Normally there would be a few reviews by now.

I’m with you on this - I’ve been slightly underwhelmed by the last few offerings frown. I’m sure I’ll get around to this new one at some point - they’re readable, just a far cry from his earlier, solo efforts I feel. I wouldn’t even pay the 1/2 price offer on the hardback currently in Waterstones the other day.

I still haven’t read last years yet, used to get them on the day of release and read them in 2-3 days and then do it all over again - the first one with his brother was ok but it didn’t make me read it twice like I would have done in previous years.

Amazon link.
Just read the first few amazon reviews, which are surprisingly positive. 56% 5 stars.

I feel that people paying full price for it, immediately, are a select audience though so early reviews are tricky.

I'll probably end up reading it but I think I'll wait this time around. The last one was pretty ropey.

I've got it as an audiobook and i'd say it was the best so far of the Andrew Child co-authored ones.

That does not invite me to invest a few of my pension pounds in it.

I'll get my name down for it at the library instead.

That doesn't say a lot unfortunately. I turned the first one off and returned it for a refund.

Its better than a good number of the books just authored by Lee Child (!) - but after 27 books and more short stories it must be harder and harder to come up with an original plot - yet The Secret is due out next October.

Still working my way through the Covert Action series by Ross Sidor which are very good

1. Weapons Grade (2019)
2. Target Viper (2020)
3. Subversive Action (2020)
4. Rogue State (2020)
5. Gray Zone (2022)

Centered around a character called Avery who is a private military contractor who get assigned by the CIA.

Quite military based but loads of action so if you like books like the Victor the Assassin and Orphan X series then I'd highly recommend.

Thought it was average.

Only just reading Better Off Dead. Easily the worst so far. So badly written. So many short sentences. Makes it very difficult. To read.

They were never literary masterpieces, but on the whole enjoyable reads. I may try the next one, but if it follows the direction this one's taken it'll be the last for me.

I have to say having just finished the latest Reacher novel that it feels like a GCSE student’s attempt at an action novel. Lee is Child-like in his writing, whereas Andrew is childlike…
