Nothing to do with the thread. Jack Reacher

Have you read the thrust to Antarctica? Maybe you keep you feet on the ground and stick to reality

I'll wait until the price drops - £7.20 is way too rich for my blood. I've read the others and they were all less than £4 each IIRC.
That price was September last year.
I paid £5.84 in January but it's now £3.49 - don't know when prices were reduced, but proof a little patience can save a few bob.

Coming soon to a charity shop near you! Alongside the Clarksons, Nesbos and 'DaVinci Codes'.

In a nutshell that's my problem with Kindle and stuff like that - no chance of picking these ebooks up for pennies on the car boot sale. I've just bought a nearly-new Harlan Coben paperback that I haven't read yet on a 2 for 50p deal. I got on to Stuart MacBride when I found a couple of hardbacks in a warehouse clearance sale for 35p each. Buying from places like this has found me quite a few books that I very much enjoyed - my main source of books in winter is the local library sale table. Only down side is that you can't pick and choose the order you read in.

Mo Hayden
No Nesbo

Both very dark disturbing sort of thriller series but very very good.

I've only read Hanging Hill and really enjoyed it - that is a stand alone book I think The ritual or the treatment is first in the Jack Caffery series all reviews are really good so dark and disturbing.

I have them all in the book shelf awaiting me finishing off a few other books first.

Must admit I am bored stless of Jack Reacher, but I still buy them, they are all the same

Drifts into town
Buys Socks and Underpants
Has a Coffee
Witnesses some crime
Gets involved
Immediately gains top level access to Police files
Nearly gets killed
Has sex with local cop/waitress
Beats up some bad guys despite warning them
Finds a dead body
Has a Coffee and some pie
Scopes some base or other out
Final Showdown and triumph
Leaves town

It is "The Littlest Hobo" but with an ex military cop rather than a German Shepherd Dog.

I still buy and read them though.

They are the grown male equivalent of the "Rainbow Fairy" books (if you have a small daughter you will know them). A reassuringly familiar formula in every one.

The plots/ideas are good and its nice to know what to expect - I mix and match one Reacher book then a few different books inbetween. He gets into the action straight away little if any build up.

You forgot the parts where he uses his internal clock to tell the time repeatedly and tracking someone down using nothing but intuition

That is the brilliance of the plot.

Think I've 9 to go in the series - will I read all of them YES (one reason I've bought them...- but I enjoy them and sometimes it's a nice change from utterly unknown other authors style).

I always take 2 with me for the sun holidays with 4/5 others

... and when he says nothing. I'm sure Lee Child has a keyboard shortcut ctrl-0 = "Reacher said nothing." to save a lot of typing per novel.
