I revisited one of my favourite cyberpunk novels recently; "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. A little dated, and the ending is a little lame, but still epic.

Struggling though Iain M Banks Surface Detail. What was he smoking when he wrote that.
Girl seeking revenge on her murderer is good, but the war over the digitised souls of the dead is pretty wierd. Multicoloured demons etc

Stick with it. The avatar Demeisen is my all time favourite banks character! One twisted ship mind.

Quite surprised you've not tried Hamilton before. One of my favourites - nothing too taxing, but good flowing stories that hang together pretty well.

I'm halfway through The Martian by Andy Weir and I'm loving it.

I actually bought it as an Audiobook and it's the first time I've ever listened to it but the story is great, intense, amusing and laden with tech details (maybe a little too much in places) but it is clearly so well researched it stands out IMO.

At its heart it;s a story of an astronaut stranded on Mars - ok been done before in essence but I still heartily recommend this book (either written or audio!)

About time, though I find the endings weak. Part way through Reality dysfunction and left the book in a hotel, dammit.

Just finished Kim Stanley Robinsons Mars trilogy (Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars) - was really impressed and hooked the whole way through.

Next I'm waiting for 19th June when Long Mars (3rd in the series by Stephen Baxter and Terry Pratchett) coms out - reading The Lost Fleet (Jack Campbell) in the interim...

I have only read the first book. Didn't like it enough to read the trilogy.
