I don't know if this is the case, but it seemed like the ending was a little rushed and a little too easy. Everyone just seemed too happy, especially Sally.

Update! Update! I've changed the ending. Just spend the last eight hours rewriting, and I think the improvements are well worth it. I've also rejigged quite a bit of the plot to keep some things secret for longer. Would you like to read it?

I've taken a look. I've re-read the last two chapters (28 and the epilogue). Are they the ones you have changed?

Epilogue reads better, but if I'm really honest I (personally) think the Sean bit is still a bit too easy for Sally. Unless I have missed this, wouldn't it be a good idea to have Mikhail tell Sally that someone will help her. Say something along the lines of even though he (Mikhail) can't be there for her, someone (Sean) will appear soon who can be? I think that would make Sally's acceptance of Sean more believable.

If the above has been done and I haven't noticed it, let me know.

My apologies, I should have been clearer: I uploaded a new epilogue a while ago, but I've also re-written a lot of the end of the book, too. Because the changes are quite heavy, it's too much work to re-upload to the blog. Since then, I've also changed a fair amount of the earlier portions of the book, so it would probably make sense for me to show you when it's done!

I made a similar big leap career-wise, and the hardest thing was the buildup. Once you've started your first day, that horrible feeling will all be over. Staying where you are doesn't sound like an option, so that only leaves the new job left as a choice!

It's interesting to see how over planning a story can effectively throttle it. As someone who likes to plan, I'll need to try and not go overboard when I finally get round to doing my own writing.

Speaking of writing, I had a good chat about it with my fiancee on Saturday. We were talking in the car on the way back from cot and pram shopping and I made another story up and told her it. I seem to do this a lot and she told me to bloomin well write them down.

My problem is that I'm not that confident and I think that everything I do is rubbish. I do need to get over this before I get anywhere really.
