The Hater trilogy by David moody is good.
The first book is great, kinda meanders in the second and picks up in the third.
Autumn (& sequels) are OK too.

Autumn was his first? I'll give those a go, cheers.

PS to the OP, Hater isn't strictly a zombie story but is, for me, all the better for being a twist on a theme that I generally don't like.

I almost forgot that The Girl With All the Gifts is a zombie novel! That one I would unreservedly recommend for a slightly different, but not so scientifically 'out there' take on the virus.
I bought The Girl With All The Gifts on the back of the comments in this and, so far, it's a fantastic book.

I also bought book 1 of The Arisen - so far I'm less impressed - comes across as a bit Andy McNab meets Zombies which isn't my cup of tea. I'll stick with it, though, to see if I warm to it.

The 2 books you mentioned I love.

Worth a mention is the newsflash trilogy by Mira Grant. This is her at her best. It's post rising. Some years after it all happened and shows how humanity have adapted and survived. Blog sites have become the news channels and the 2 main characters that are followed are Shaun and Georgia Mason who run After the end of Times. I've re read these books far far too much and it has novellas that run alongside it and tell tales of other things that occur around the main storyline and characters that appear in it.

Her second trilogy parasitology is worth a mention. It's kind of a zombie gist book about a tapeworm humanity have engineered to deliver all their medication needs. The tapeworm evolves and takes hold of the host when it moves to the brain. Slow starter but worth the read. I've had trouble staying glued to this one like the newsflash one but they still are enjoyable.

There's also the living with the dead series that follow a married couple through the apocalypse and the aftermath.

Alison Hewitt is trapped and Sadie walker is stranded are both good books.

Saw apocalypse Z mentioned earlier. Only read the first one but I'd recommend these too.

Surviving the evacuation. Sounds like a war book. Isn't. It's a zombie apocalypse book. Very good. I'm currently on book 3.

This is a wild card. Not a zombie book but a very good apocalypse book called the fifth wave. Second in series is the infinite sea. Just waiting on the next book currently.

I'm a huge fan of this genre - White Flag of the Dead is a great series, though it starts to lose it after book 4.

The Arisen series - Non stop action superb!
Agreed. Without a doubt the best zombie series I've ever read. Utterly brilliant.
Double this - awaiting book 9 at the end of the month - I've also read all the spin-offs and back storys.
About 3/4 of the way through book 9 now and it's keeping the frantic action dialled right up to 10. Book 10's out on 21st Oct.
Forgot this was out! Just started the James Bond book might have to pause it for a bit!
Arisen - Deathmatch (Book 11) - out now for anyone interested!

Bought my copy yesterday.

the novels by RR Haywood. you'll find them on amazon. I think he's up to book 22 or so.

The main thing is they are funny, but also English: so less of the annoying gun toting American style to things. I must have read nearly everything Z related- these stand way above other authors.

Just read the first Arisen book, well I say read, I stopped after the first few chapters. They are terrible!

I like Matt Reilly books so I'm not expecting Frank Herbert but they are ridiculous

A sequel to The Girl with All The Gifts has been announced: The Boy on the Bridge. https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/m-r-carey...

Really? I'm very surprised.
Oh well......the world would be boring if we all liked the same stuff!

I'm sure at first I wasn't convinced they are very far fetched and the names of some of the characters are awful! Stick with it you soon get addicted.
