Having enjoyed Red Storm Rising, I wondered if there are any decent WW III books set in the present (RSR was mid 80s) or near future?

This was my first Audible book and was very good but I'd like something more technology based rather than zombies this time.

That said, good zombie book recommendations are always welcome too. smile

edited to add that he's done a 'classic' cold war series, "Red Effect" etc, which are set around the Able Archer exercise, but theres a new series called 'Cold War Redux', set now.

Have a look at the John Birmingham series too. Not exactly what you are after, but along the right lines and a good example of their type.
