Children's books on digital readers?

Parents of younger children, do you read or share stories with them via an ereader or tablet?

Or is the book format preferred (by you or the children)?

I think I have enough ideas to consider self publishing a small series of illustrated children's books and would like to explore the production costs.

Designing and typesetting is no issue and I might be able to illustrate them with enough reference material - so making up artwork for digital publishing is also no problem - but the question remains, is a children's ebook on an adults device the norm or not? Interested in your thoughts...
