Ninja Pirates!

About 3/4 through & enjoying it, allowing for the nerdy aspect. Should make a decent movie.

Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. Really enjoyed this, perhaps not "comic" but certainly amusing with some great lines.

Lucky Jim is a truly excellent book. One of my Favorites.

"He would begin with an octuple whisky".

In short, moronic female wish/power fulfillment ste.

I can only assume the majority of the positive reviewers are female (and a few minutes spent checking the reviews shows that ~95% are indeed thus).

What I will say is that men tend to prefer books (and movies) about things happening, women tend to prefer books about relationships.

A gross over simplification, but it holds true enough to show a decent correlation.

So men would tend to prefer books written by men (or by women writing in a masculine fashion), and vice versa.
Yeah , obviously . I must have some sort of gender problem as , actually , I just like to read good books (whether about ..err..'things happening ' or 'relationships '). Do your prejudices get in the way when you read a male author writing as a woman I wonder?

I did say gross over simplification (and you didn't read any of the subsequent posts). It WAS a bloody awful book, though.

I can't actually think off the top of my head of anything I've read, written by a man 'in the style of a woman', any in particular that you were thinking of?

A Long Way Down (in respect of two of the four or five characters); Gone girl
(in respect of one of the two mains) and Brazzaville Beach. Enjoyed them all.

Actually I went to fight club yesterday.I truned up a bit late and missed the start and the rules but it was pretty straightforward. It was excellent. Just in an old abandoned building in my local town. Just loads of men turning up to have a fight. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Dracula. It's the first book I read on Kindle a few years ago and I think even now it holds water. I wish I'd been able to read it without knowing the nature of the horror, but I wouldn't be on PH now I suspect if I had... darn!
