Completely agree with this. Why such a song and dance? Its a nice car, the chap sounds nice enough, but its hardly the coming of the messiah.
I agrre too... however...
as avid petrolheads, the Macca F1 is the holy grail of machinary to us... Hence the owner of such a weapon is deemed the messiah..
Maybe thats why the hero worship begins?

I remember seeing the car being tyre tested at MIRA and was very impressed by it then. Having also seen a Yamaha OX99 at MIRA too I can only say that it made me even more impressed with the McLaren.
I'm quite lucky, in that I worked at Yamaha (Ypsilon Technology) where the OX99 was developed and at McLaren including some ickly bits for the F1.
Lucky enough to have been a passenger in both, although in different circumstances, the Yamaha, was a real racecar really, probably more akin to a Porsche GT1 or something like that and I've always thought that for "on track" performance (and the view out of the windscreen), then the Yam' would have the F1 licked. However, in every other respect the F1 is ahead of the Yamaha.
