pah, who needs an F1 ?, I'd get one but it'd mean losing either the 917 or one of the GT40s, or perhaps leaving the 250 LM on the street .........

i like your style!

I bet the poor bloke is terrified. He hasn't so much as uttered a word and there is a 10 page thread about him already!

Well if he hadn't been a drama queen, and just popped the car in his profile there wouldn't be this ridiculous fuss!

Actually the F1 is still quicker round a track based on lap times, but no journo that I've seen has managed to pit them against each other on the same day yet.

Might not be quite what you're getting at here...but Rowan Atkinson did a piece in Evo a few issues ago Mac F1 v Carrera GT. Where the 2 were driven side by side. Can't remember if he gave a final verdict....I think he kind of liked both.

Carrera GT was faster on the track apart from on the straights where the F1 was in a different league. Only to be expected really the F1 is over 10 years old.

Lonman has a Carrera GT on order but he doesnt post on here although he is a member.

Welcome Flemke.

Congratulations on buying such a fantastic car, I dont care what colour it is - how long the clutch lasts - or even what speed you have done in it - I only wish to know whether it is as good as the press say.

Im not going to bother asking for a ride, because by the time I reach the front of the queue I will have my own, however - I hope you can make it to the next PF. Dont bring the Mclaren F1 because you wont be able to push past the crowd that surrounds it to get back home. If you so wish I will gladly give you a ride in the Smart and let you appreciate how even the younger/ less exotic car owners on here have the same octane blood running through thier veins.

Please dont be put off by a barrage of requests for passenger runs or feel that you need to honour every one - we are simply a group of people with the same automotive interests as you and wish to hear of some of your finest moments with your car.

Thanks for making yourself known, I doubt if I was in a similar position I would have done the same for fear of the reactions. I applaud you for stepping up and hopefully, revealing all shortly.

well obviously i would have a Mac in my dream Garage
(as a golden oldy) but i feel the Carrera GT would be in pride of place , slower top end maybe but opportunitys to do 220-MPH are few and far between , if Herr Porkmiester wished im sure they could of achieved more than the 205-MPH that the GT can do

Christ if I had a F1 I'd just put it on my profile and if anyone didn't believe it flck em!

This is far too much of a fuss!

Hold fast there, Von Mugster - we may be talking about a real, live F1 here - it does deserve some trumpeting...but I think it's about time the owner posted something, pictorial and/or verbal although I agree entirely with you - just whack it on your profile and let nature take it's course!

(This is all a bit like artificial [PH] insemination!)

Sure, it's the ultimate in many ways but most PHers have been up, close and personal with a variety of 'pin-up deities' in their time, at one venue or another...Kev's Stradale, Tony's Diablo, etc, etc...I'm sure we could 'handle' a Macca!

Come to think of it, an opportune Mungoism wouldn't go amiss right now. How about a "sheesh?"

OK TED, it was the right strategy, but it seems to have backfired.

With hindsight it was probably predictable that some of the "prima ballerinas" would feel a little threatened. OK, there is some comic value to be had from people saying "just stick it in your profile" or my favorite "it's only a car", but if it's allowed to go on it may alienate the owner even more.

Perhaps it's time to stick a fork in this one, and maybe flash up a "McLaren F1" room so that those who are interested can discuss it with or without actual owners of the car, whilst keeping the rest of the forum free for those fantastic 3AM posts from some virgin, pizzed out of his head on alcopops.

bor

So unless one is star struck by someone owning a nice car, they are 'prima balarinas'? Sheesh! He's not some kind of deity. You don't have to sacrifice your first born. In fact I'm finding it hard not to class this whole escapade as the most incredible conceit.

The fact that you see fit to criticise your fellow PHers because they aren't quite as dazzled leaves me incredulous.

Well Dan, I don't know why this makes you feel so insecure, but I'll try to explain. Some of us would class an F1 as more than just "a nice car" and it's the car that we're interested in rather than the owner. You are not apparently interested in the car and that's fair enough, so why not butt out of the thread and leave it to the rest of us sycophants ?

Agreed...

Fair play to the bloke if he is lucky enough to be able to splash out on a Macca, but it doesn't make him God.....

Lottery winner Michael Carroll could have afforded 16 F1's (before he blew it all on banger racing round his back garden with his hanger on mates)....

I hope when he finally does make an appearance he will be treated exactly the same as if he drove pwig's Rover turbo.........

The bottom line is this...

Flemke owns something that to 99.9% of us is unobtainable, many people on here want to ask him about his ownership experience... This doesn't mean he is a God.

Anyone that thinks he is has issues...

I think fairplay to Flemke for being cool enough to be in touch with the real world and read a car obsessed website... because lets face it - the only human to want to own a Mc F1 is a Pistonhead.... but the majority of owners believe them
selves better than us and decline to to visit this planet...

jealousy brings out a multitude of emotions but thanks to someone brave enough to post on a public forum we might get to understand the joys of owning the automotive equivalent of jesus' donkey...

now please, can everyone stop saying "i dont give a fluck who he is" and "its just a car" when really we mean - tell us about your car mate - we're interested in the best car ever made...

You can get an F1 in ANY colour you desire. Even if you buy second hand... the factory will gladly respray and reupholster the car... for a fee

Well said mate. A simple "hello mate, welcome to PH" or a question which out fellow PHer might soon answer is enough surely.

When you have a sweet car/s and the time to drive the last thing on your mind is a forum. When you are away from your cars (abroad, at work etc) then this is the place to keep you from making engine sounds out loud and add to your vocabulary courtesy of Derestrictor
