Personally, I can't wait to get another American car when I have some spare cash. LHD doesn't bother me, I thought it would, but it was a whole lot easier to navigate my LHD Buick Regal than my RHD Pimpala. The only downside to the LHD was I kept getting in on the wrong side! (all the other vehicles I was driving were RHD) but it had a bench seat so I could just slide over to the other side. As for build quality.... I drive a Lada so it won't be an issue....

The only "NEW" American cars I would give garage space to are the Chrysler 300 estate or a '95 ish SS Impala.

It seems to me that british drivers as a whole are slightly warry of new manufacturers, or at least new to these shores.
Chryshler has gone the right way with the Neon and made it blend in so us brits aren't to warry of it.
The british car market is already established by the big companies, Ford, Honda, Vw, Nissan etc and i think there is a tried and tested attitude with most drivers.
I would love a viper or c5/6? if i could afford to run them but for some reason they were never high on my lottery list.
Also i think your average potential customer with 10 grand + wants a bargain or an all rounder for their money and in my eyes US cars have allways been percieved as all out speed.

A 'hot' model to follow. If the last one had 390 bhp then presumably they want at least 400.

The current one is widely believed to be more like 425.

In the grand sceme of things the English market is tiny... We are smaller than most states.

They wont bother developing a RHD car for such a limited market place, plus the fact most cars have an engine the size of a small house under the bonnet will put the majority of punters off. That and along with our petrol prices...

American cars suit american attitudes and lifestyles not ours I think..

Well, we might be physically smaller than most states, but you don't tend to measure the size of a market in terms of square miles.

In terms of population, I think we are bikker than any individual state, and about 1/5th of the population of the whole US.

Coming to a corner of a Vauxhall showroom near you very soon:

The Chevrolet Matiz, Chevrolet Kalos, Chevrolet Lacetti and Chevrolet Tacuma.

GM deciding to re-brand Daewoo as Chevrolet is so wrong, so hilarious, I like it!

(Did you know that the last Pontiac Le Mans was a re badged Daewoo Nexia? Oh how the mighty have fallen).

Half the world is right hand drive anyway, hardly a small percentage.

I was chatting to a guy at the Brighton Speed Trials last year who was running a RHD Viper. He said it was an Australian import and a factory job not an aftermarket conversion. Can't corroborate that. Any comments?

I think the Australian conversion is factory approved rather then factor built although it just about costs as much as the car in the first place.

Was that the yellow with blue stripe as it was stolen shortly after being brought over and was torched after tearing the tires to shreds and smashing the suspension

Yes, you can learn to do it, but with F1 195x45.18's at $300 a pop, plus shipping plus import duty, it's not something I practice too often. Extra weight in the bed helps launch

Erm, no it wouldn't.

I was out in two different cars the other day, both of which were around 3.2 seconds 0-60.

Unlike your crappy tank, they also went round corners well, too.

But I forget, any shite produced in the good old USA has to be the best...

Do you think he's got close to the 0-60 time, or the top speed?

I'd guess not.
