Pretty sure there aren't any but there are country, rock and folk awards so that's the music of white origin covered.

I do wonder about this, surely awards like this just bring attention to colour, which I personally think could be a little counter productive.

and as already commented, I wonder how much fuss would be caused if you had MOWO instead?

It's bollocks.

Lauren Hills racist rantings about black music make me sick. If she knew her shit, she would realise that only the rhythms are of black origin. The Harmony/Structure/Session players were often white. I find this positive racism a discusting thing. Yep, I appreciate music, I play jazz (Black music?) myself.

This event was obviously construed by a lefthanded lesbian trombonist with a bloody chip on her shoulder.

Racism and music should be separate things.

Segregation baby! Isn't music just music? Who defines what's white music, and what's black music? And why does anyone care? Love music, regardless of where it came from.

I second that

Slightly different tone (excuse the pun) but I always wondered what would happen if a load of straight folk paraded through London with banners saying "proud to be straight".

Is a "Gay Pride" march really necessary?

A few Brighton taxis have a sticker in the back window which says "Great to Be Straight". Fantastic!

A couple of years ago CarZee gave a 300-odd word post about this MOBO awards thing and it was first class.

I'd never be able to find it though ...

The fragmentation and segmentisation of everything these days should perhaps render the fact of 'The MOBO Awards' not that big a deal.

However, it is striking because of the immense specific prominence it's given by the media.

You could argue this, however, merely reflects the pre-eminence of the whole black ghetto thing (including variations from the fundamentalist rap factory that incorporate the production line of oh-so predictable, barely pubescent Aretha Franklinite wannabes [not to mention their pitiful white trash counterparts who sully the ether with their overbudgeted talentlessnessfests]) within the media.

I submit that the apetite shown for rock-cum-comedy acts like The Darkness define the supressed passion of many a frustrated AOR/MOR stylee punter and this obsession with 'black is the king of cool' thing that dominates western popular culture is purely the fully germinated product of a rotten seed first witnessed (with dread) on the streets of New York in the late 70s when some 'brother' started scratchin' & spinnin.'

Wikkid, it is not.

Sh1te, it most certainly is.

Up The Irons.

Bollocks.

Hey baby! Here I am. I was just crusing the GG, breaking in my new lentil flavoured sandals and what do I spy !

Q.When is the Music OF White Origin on ?

A.EVERY DAY of course !

I thought I'd already explained this before, was nobody listening to the BOR ?

These awards, whether for music or for acting are, or at least, were necessary due to the dominance of white in western music/film. Not necessarily due to racism of course, more like popular demand. If you were a white musician/actor in Calcutta, you might reasonably hold a MOWO award ceremony. It's simply a minority awards thing like "PHer of The Year". You wouldn't expect non-PHers to be interested or indeed care about PH awards.

But now the stinking, right-wing, jackboot wearing fascists have a BIG problem. Gansta rap is repulsive, misogynist, homophobic, violent excrement. But it has been attacked by that well known PH character Peter Tatchell, who has suceeded in having the more extreme of the Jamaican homophobe rappers expelled.

So who do you side with ? Tatchell the gayer or the non white music awards ?

I sympathise with your quandry.

Eh?

Just about every radio and music TV station is completely dominated by black and/or MOBOesque toons - the idea that MOBO awards are somehow socially desirous by their stunningly hypocritical protagonists is at least totally unnecessary ito the actual music scene and at worst, nothing more than odious, inexcusable, positive discrimination.

It's not all all a category thing, it's a race thing and because it's black, that's ok.

Well no, it's not.
