And Why Did It Happen?

My last fight (excluding Thai Boxing! ) was when I was 18 (9 years ago). It was (kind of) over a girl and was all over in a few minutes. Pretty much a draw - he caught me by surprise with a full-on punch in the face, then when I didn't go down it turned into a wrestling macth and kind of petered out. Pretty pathetic really.

So, come on, I'm sure some of you have some very interesting stories.....

You've never had a fight?! Not even at school?

As they say in Fight Club, "You don't know yourself until you've had a fight!" (or something very similar).

I guess we'll know by the end of this thread. For all I know I could be the only PHer ever to have punched someone.

Somehow, I doubt that though...

My last 'fight' as such was 19 years ago I was at a party with my girlfriend and some tosser was giving her grief, so she smacked him one and gave him a black eye Problem was, he later decided to take it out on me: got a tap on the shoulder, turned around to get a full on headbut! Broke my nose and I went down like a sack of spuds

Visiting some friends in aberystwyth. Went for a night out at the union with a mate. We were talking to a girl he knew when chav skinhead + mate start doing the 'shes with us' bit, we took the piss for a minute then walked away.

On leaving the place, guess whos waiting outside? chav skinhead threatens me, grabs my shirt, ripping it (my best lime green shirt - sob!). On instinct I hit him, he falls down, his mate hits me, im in mid punch when my arm is grabbed by a huge hairy bouncer. Fortunately hes a friend of mine and just sends me on my way.

Next night in town I run into them again. Except im sober. And theyve gotten bigger. Waited in bar at closing time, them plus a few more friends have gathered waiting outside in a big group.

Which made it very easy for the BiB van ive called to round them up.

I went through 4 years of uni without a fight, went back for a weekend and it all kicked off!

First day at secondary School. Me and Gary Clear had a right punch up in the playground over a tennis ball. Before we knew it a croud had gathered and were shounting "fight fight". We got separated by a teacher. From then on Gary was one of my best mates at school.

No, I've honestly never been in a serious fight - I've even never punched anyone in the face before

If it came to it I can handle myself, but I'd rather talk my way out a situation than fight it out.

mate of mine had a brilliant fight with a p155ed up old git once.

my mate (sober-ish and completely innocent) got started on for no reason at all.
drunk bloke throws punch (slowly) my mate slowly sidesteps punch.
drunk bloke falls flat on face, cuts face on pavement. ouch.

as for me, never had one...

Not fights per se but last year I got involved in a couple of incidents

1. Whilst pulling a friend away from some smoggy chavs who were beating him up i got a noxious liquid thrown in my face and nearly went blind in my left eye.

2. Told my then fiancee's step-dad to shut up when he was giving her some unwarranted verbals and got a broken nose for my troubles.

Score for the year - 5 arrests, 3 convictions for assault and 2 bound-overs. Not a bad success rate!

Believe it or not, I did boxing for 4 years (some time ago), and Kung Fu for the past 3 years (Wing Chun).

19 years ago I punched a guy in the face for kicking my push bike... well I did warn him

He fell over and I walked off so not sure if that counts.

Believe it or not, I did boxing for 4 years (some time ago), and Kung Fu for the past 3 years (Wing Chun).

There's no pattern there - I was the belt below black in Shukoki Karate at 14, have done boxing, Thai Boxing, Ju Jitsu, etc. I did reach a stage once where I was frightened of getting in a fight in case I really hurt someone. Ironically, aged about 16 the school bully (who was later expelled) unwisely started on me. He threw a punch at my head, I caught his wrist and honestly not wanting to throw a punch I instinctively pulled him forward with his punch, swivelled and smacked his head into a metal bar in the cloakroom! I think it hurt quite a bit more than a punch as it happens. Anyway, after about 10 mins he got up and started again (he was a nutter). This time I just overpowered him and pinned him down until he calmed down. Afterwards he spat on my shirt when I wasn't there - very brave guy he was.

Last fight I had was about 8 years ago. I stood up for a mate against someone I knew wouldn't stand up to me, unfortunately they caught me on the way home from the school the next day with a minder.

Suffice to say lad in question threw a punch which was diverted and returned with my boot-bag going into his face. The minder then bust my nose and lip.

Still, they didn't bother me again

Then again, after breaking a lad's leg in a very unfortunate accident no-one has really ever bothered me since, sure is handy been sober in and around town. Oh, and been a wide 6ft helps as well
