Following on from the brutal race car thread I thought I'd see what road turned race car the PH community found the most suprising?

Glad to be of some inspiration . . .

No, the 131 range was completely different to the 124 range which became the Lada/FSO range when the car was sold to the Soviets after Fiat discontinued it. The original Fiat 124 version was a cracker with its 1.4 twin cam and five speed.

Lada had a very capable model - the VFTS - Group B homologated. The Russians finished 6th in the Acropolis in the early 1980s. The highest placing of a Soviet block car ever in the World Championship

Wasn't that particular car lotus "re-engineered"? I think it was on TG?

Do you mean whilst there was still a Soviet bloc cos Skoda have done better than that - not least with a third overall with the Felicia in the RAC

I race an MG Metro - some people find that amusing

It is also surprising for people when they get overtaken on a test day

That's the one. Had the equivalent of £100,000 worth of dev in it too. Came this close to buying it last year as well...

That Lada-Lotus must have had a dozen owners by now . . . and it's about 4 years ago TG showed it?
