Greatest all weather point-to-point car?

So does this mean that the other weekend on a PH SW run, with Daz in his 996tt X50 and Paul in his Noble, and 'lil ol me chasing (and doing a good job of annoying both of them - catching through the corners too) in my 2.0l 16v GTi Golf, that my Golf is up there with the fastest cars in the world point to point?

they aren't going to be the absolute fastest cars point to point, but something like a well set up Golf GTi is going to pretty fast in adverse conditions, because you can still use almost all of the (limited) power. I know I can drive my Mk2 8v almost as hard in the wet as the dry, something that can't be said for the TVR
Stig Blomquist's Pikes Peak RS200:
The car isn't geared for top end, or even for 0-60 typical standing starts. It is geared for midrange acceleration to punch out of corners for super quick enroute a-b dominance. Typical stats are:
50-70 in 1.09
60-80 in 0.85 seconds!
70-90 in 0.97
80-100 in 1.01
Slightly low res scan from Evo mag...

All weather? That'll be an Ariel Atom.
Nah, only joking, make it a Caterham. At least it has a roof and doors
Have you actually been in a caterham in the wet?
Wipers make Landrover ones look awesome...

Funnily enough, some of us have to work to a budget and can't swan around in supercars which 99.9% of people can only dream of. Yes it has its faults, but then Locosts don't cost that much, and IMO it flaws are far outweighed by its charm, individualism, good looks and "back to basics" driving attitude.

But that makes it far from the greatest point to point car and for that reason it isnt justifiable for you to bite back at an opinion. In fact the same could be said for a morris minor and Id like to see it get from London to Monaco faster than a Koenigsegg CCR.

No, I didn't assemble it myself, but I hope that that fact alone doesn't make me Dr Evil.

I don't think you are Doctor Evil because you didn't assemble it. I have a good friend who bought a Caterham and has someone build it for him. 3 months later he came off a track into a gravel trap and broke his back.
My reaction was due to the fact that you seemed to talk about driving a Caterham as if it were a "lower" time in your life. It is obviously very hard to judge someone from just what they write, and I doubt I will ever meet you. I'm going to be getting my first car in a few months time hopefully, and my dream would be to get a Locost. IMO it is one of the greatest point to point cars ever made. The rawness that they have. They don't have lots of modern comforts, or a roof...or doors...and yes they will be cold in the winter. But I want one.
I obviously took your post the wrong way, so I apologise for that.
In terms of out and out any weather any time fast as you ******* like get me there now banzai blast from one end of the country to another I reckon a 4x4 RUF of some description would do it.
In the real world probably a Golf R32 or Audi RS, Porsche or Evo a little too conspicuous I reckon.

Correction:
What you want is a 1991 Toyota Corolla...
Stop trying to flog me that Corolla!!! I REALLY do not want a Corolla, I guarantee you!
Now if you want to sell me one of your Landies, I may be interested...
