Well from what Tony was telling the Dad. Somone blew up the Boxster S's engine, they had an XK8 for 2 days before it got written off. The Elan kept blowing turbos up, the Mondial you know about with the headgaskets (customer drove 60 miles with it overheating! ), Ferrari F355 broken into and interior vandalised killing all the electrics, Lister Jag not fixed, DB7 needed a new engine.

The problem is, people just abused the cars then gave them back. There was not enough of a 'club' mentality, everyone for themselfs and fook the rest attitude was prominent, some people put 1000 miles a day on the cars!

My experience of the London club is very different.

The nature of it being a club with give and take was made very clear to me when I joined.

That was certainly explained to me to some extent, probably more in the literature than face to face tho'. I suppose the problem is you cant really screen your members and once they are on their own its v difficult to control. I asked questions about mech failure before I joined because I was concerned that I didnt have the cash to foot large bills - thats why I was joining them...that didnt mean I would rag everything I got my hands on however.

Yes, there was a certain memeber of staff also known as 'fooking useless' which didn't help.

Oh Dear!

Only just joined PH today and was also on the verge of signing a cheque to these people. I take it that since they are affiliated, the Manchester club has also gone belly up!

Does anyone know if it may be reborn? Was it good whilst it lasted?

The writing had been on the wall for the past 6 - 8 months I suppose, since Phil left in Manchester.

Thingy said overexpansion had been a problem too, they went from 80 memembers and 10 cars to over 200 memebers and 23 cars in a short space of time, and I don't think they could cope.

Not having a permanent manchester base wasn't the best thing either.

It wouldn't take much to start a new club and make it work properly.

Anyone wanna invest?

It is with regret CCC Birmingham and Manchester branches did close last week.
This was due to the Franchisee unfortunately not being able to devote the required hours to the business due to numerous personal issues he has had to deal with over the last few months.
However, we will hopefully be in discussions with a new Franchisee shortly and we would like to reassure both Birmingham and Manchester members to bear with us during this time.
In the meantime, moving forward we will be writing to all members to explain the situation in more detail with some membership options.
If any PHer has any queries please contact the London Club which is most definitely in full swing on 020 7490 9090 or email info@classiccarclub.co.uk

Having received my letter yesterday I am more than happy with the response of the CCC. Providing the interim arrangements work, they exceed any of my expectations of likely outcomes from the situation.
