Got my subscription copy in the post yesterday. No mention of it being the last issue. Front page photo is of Stig's Ultima proudly displaying a PH sticker on its sunstrip.

Impressed with Stigs Ultima and the PH branding.

However wasnt very impressed that there is no mention that its the last issue. Fair enough the decision may have been made after the issue went to press (would have thought so considering editorial and subscription double page), but a simple Photocopied letter inserted wouldnt have cost the earth would it.

Wonder if we will ever see the money back?

I use to subsribe to a brilliant mag set up by CCC then publisers in the 80's. It was simplycalled Motor Racing and had loads of club event and national championship reviews with blurb on every car etc, brilliant, but dissapeared and never saw the money again for almost a year for the subscription i'd just paid.

I just hope I can get hold of a copy! My subscription was shredded (renewed 2 weeks ago) so they must have known abuot the closure.

I rang subscriptions to find out as I didn't want to pay for 12 months of sod all!

PS. What's the write up on the GTR like? I never got to see the piece before it went in???

very good, only quickly scanned through it, will ready it properly tonight, but did mention they thought it had 500bhp max.

If you have no luck with a copy, email me and you can have mine once i've thumbed through it all

lol! They didn't mention that Dave's road can only take 380bhp and they had to calculate the power 'cos it kept lifting off the rollers then! Oh, and they calculated it to be in excess of 510! Still, journalistic licence and all that.

The engine needs setting up properly and re-testing, but it's plenty quick enough.

Incidently, Dave drove like a complete wuss and was nowhere near the envelope of the car. I've got plenty of video that supports this. Just ask some of the other drivers that were out with him dannylt, AndewD etc.

PS. Either way, those are REAL bhp remember not the stuff of Blackpools imagination!

they did mention that they needed to calculate it due to the 300bhp limit

Not that I'm sceptical about things I hear on the net but I emailed IPC Media for the official line on the demise of CCC. Here is the response :

Phil,

It will be disappointing news for you but it is true that CCC will cease publication after the October issue.

As I am sure you can appreciate, the decision to close any magazine is never taken lightly, let alone one which has been in continuous publication for forty years. However, in very simple terms, the reader base for the title had become too small for us to continue.

As a subscriber you will of course be receiving confirmation of the closure in writing from us very shortly.

Paul Cheal

I tried phoning Paul Cheal, to find out if CCC was for sale. He was always in meetings and hasn’t responded to any of the messages I left.

Still, suppose he thought I was another waster.

I once nearly went for the design job on PC - would have meant giving up the self-employed bit though. This was about 1996 ish - just think, I could have been designing EVO!

Yup, got a copy or two on Friday.

Not a bad article, but didn't give you any idea at all about what it's like to drive. The dyno figures mysteriously 'lost' 30bhp too which was odd?

Still, nice to get the cover and a load of pages within in the last edition. Just off out to find the missing ponies!

Hi Guys, Well I'm a well healed petrol head and proud to say I'v been one from the age of two lol
Having read the discussion of the demise of CCC magazine, I thought someone out there would be interested in what I'd found in my loft. Firstly If I recall the bi turboed V8 moggy I think belonged to Andy Mann, I saw it perform in a straight line and to say it was 'RAPID' is a understatement.
Finally I,v an exclusive ccc dvd
