I'm sure shouting about it in more public places will get Renault off their ass to help. TV stations, radio etc...they will sit up when the word is being spread about 2 clios spontaneously catching fire.

A friend of mine brought a Renault (1.9) which returned 15-18MPG from new, it took 18 months to get them to replace the engine. Not what you would expect when you have just spent £15k on a car. Renault it seems have a few lessons to learn in customer care!

Well I hope Renault treat me like they did for that S2000 guy above.

The car was 18 month old, had been bought from a Renault dealer, had been serviced by Renault, and was still under Renaul warranty! Can't ask much more can you????

Unfortunately ladies and gents I have just heard of another 172 that caught fire http://forum.cliosport.net/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=91532&PagePosition=1

Worrying!

ps.. similar thing happened to an S2000 (car caught fire on drive etc etc) and Honda had delivered a new car within 2 days! Renault could laern something from them! 4 weeks later, no car, no NCD, and a missus about to give birth!!

None yet. The insurance company have appointed an independant engineer to view the car on Tuesday. I have asked Renault to attend this to find the cause of the fire because there are a lot of 172's out there and people don't need this. Mind you the fire was 4 weeks ago so they are not breaking theirs backs to find out what has happened.

A good friend has also written to Renault 2 weeks ago about his 172 and they have not even replied yet. He is giving them until the middle of next week and then his Solicitors will be informed.

We shall see what Renault will say! Probably that is was caused by a freak solar wind from Jupiter and that they can't be held liable rah rah rah....
Hope it does not come to this as Watchdog and a national paper want my pics and I have told them to hold until I get Renault's response.

We shall see
