I had one as a company car in 1984.

Excellent car in every respect (mine was metallic black with smoked windows).

Handling great for a big car, gearbox beautiful, ultra-reliable, but expect 17mpg, so best on company expenses or mileage allowance.

I wouldn't buy one now, simply because of fuel costs.

My old man has the same model with olive green leather interior and that lovely gold / champagne paintwork, bought it new, resides in Italy and has only 45k miles on it! Starts every year too smile
What part of Italy?

I never was fond of these back in the 80's, they looked dated then with the circle headlamps in the grill and just did not like the shark front, sorry guys. I guess it would be a winner though with the grey-head RWD generation though.

I used to have a 728 on a c plate, bought it when it wasn't that old in 1996, ran it for 4 years, was a very solid car, boy was it thirsty! I always wanted the 735 in silver or black with leather, they were rare even in the 90's!

Love barges, perhaps not this particular one. Amazing how cheap old cars are in the UK, they would be selling that for at least $6000 Australian down here, even in that nick. First time I've read a car ad from top to bottom - reckon this is the perfect car for those guys at Wheeler Dealers to have a go at. Sat in one of these a while back whilst car shopping, white with black 'buffalo leather' but it had over 200,000kms on the odo and was a bit out of my price range. Love the old 7's though.

That is fantastic!

The only way this 7 could be any better was if it was a 745i Turbo (how rare are those now!?!) but even though it isn't I'm still happy!

Agree - Best SOTW for a long time smile

Great shed, and looks like a bargain.....................

Then I spotted this. 2.5K for this stunning car. Unbelievable.

Could be good, or very very bad. Perhaps a bit too much STS (Shiny Tyre Syndrome).

^^^^ Agreed, and if it's bad could be expensive. A test drive should show up problems.

£401 ?

/Carol Vorderman.
IMHO worth, at most, half of what he's selling it for. At that price it needs to be un messed with, have no rust and EVERYTHING must work.

These are just the worst car ever. The M30 engine has serious nikasil issues. Stay well away, the M30 engine is a disaster waiting to happen. The handling is just wayward, you can barely get around a corner in the dry, don't even consider driving in slightly moist conditions.
Lethal.

Of course this is all crap, I'm just trying to keep demand down.

I'd say the old 3.5 is bomb-proof, considering a friend of mine ran his for about 30,000 miles with no ill effect without changing the oil! eek

theres one of these in my road, even the same colour! - taxed, but looks like it never moves. paintwork is dull and covered in mold, interior looks a bit tatty, but i'd love to buy it and restore it. A little tlc and it would be a great old barge!

If she did know her cars, she'd know that it was a 3.2 litre engine in the 733i, not a 3 litre wink

I like these, and always have. I prefer the facelift ones to the slightly sharkier earlier cars too.

Despite what the advert says, these had a ZF4HP22E automatic transmission which was definately a FOUR speed! A similar unit was used by Jaguar in 3.2 and 3.6 litre XJ40 cars, though without the switchable modes.

Like these beemers! I had the 5 series on an E plate, a 527e in black, a lovely car. Always wanted a 635 csi though, but could never afford it. These days BMW seem to make very average looking cars compared with the early shark nose cars. Give me a mint 90s 6 series over the new one any day!
