There's a lot of ignorance regarding WBAC and a lot of unreasonable criticism.

1. If you have a Porsche or an old classic or a specialist car, they don't want it. They can't stock it, move it on or make money on it easily. Therefore don't expect a good price on it. It's simple - WBAC is not for you. They're not 'w*nkers', 'jokers' or con-merchants. They're running a business. If you don't like their offer, don't accept it.

2. If on the other hand you have a retailable mass market car like a low mileage 3 year old Focus for example, you may be surprised. These values are more in keeping with what you'd expect if you sold the car yourself.

3. The 'We Buy Any Car' tag seems to lull some people into thinking this means "We'll pay Top Dollar for any car". This simply isn't the case like any business.

4. Whether they're exploiting people or not is a matter of opinion. You could argue that if someone accepts a low offer on a car that WBAC don't want then they're foolish enough to take a low offer from anyone.

FWIW, my brother sold them his Wife's Mini Cooper. Good spec, good condition, good price.

They took it over to them and they knocked £30 off for an alloy that had damage not as described.
You must work for them too. rolleyes
I think he made a valid point - doesn't need to work for them to see WBAC for what they are.

My other half's brother got £750 (after deducting admin fees etc) for his Y-reg Corsa from WBAC. Needing some cosmetic tidying up, and with only 1 month MOT left, I thought it was a reasonable price.

Their "office" was a 12ft x 12ft unit in a Big Yellow Storage warehouse. Felt sorry for the guy stuck in there all day with no ventilation or natural light! Process was quick and hassle free. Would definitely use them again in future.

WBAC offered my son £300 for his Puma. Sold privately on autotrader for £750 in two weeks. I'd avoid them in the future.

It's much better to sell privately as like people have said, all car buyers are going to be making something on your car otherwise they wouldn't buy them.

I sold my last car to The Car Buying Service because I wanted to sell it quickly and didn't have time to sell privately. Got a much better price from them compared to other car buyers. Interestingly, they have a page on their website ( http://www.thecarbuyingservice.co.uk/we-buy-any-ca... ) highlighting why they are better than webuyanycar.

A bit of a resurrection of an old thread.
Listening to the WBAC advert, they state that they've now bought 1.000,000 cars off the public.
That's a hell of a lot of metal. They must be doing something right.
