MissChief - we've just moved house and are about to do the "Sky move" thing. We don't want to change our subscription (which includes the Legacy HD pack) for fear of losing the F1.

If we do the "Sky move" any ideas if we will keep the F1 or not?

TIA smile
If you don't do the 'cancel at old address, sign up as new customer at new address' thing then your account will continue as it is now. I.e. you WON'T lose the F1 channel.

People losing the F1 channel due to package changes is usually changing the HD pack to 'entertainment extra plus' which, if you don't have sports or movies then could save you £5.25 a month but still gives you all the Hd channels that are part of your package. If anyone at Sky suggests this DO NOT accept it as you WILL lose the F1 channel and it can't be changed back as far as I am aware.
Initial plan was to do the cancel / renew, but now want to keep the F1 so opting for the "sky move"

Thanks smile

Right then, Sky are going to listen to the call my wife made a few weeks ago to see whether they advised her that the subscription change would mean we lost F1.

However, they've stated that even if they didn't, the most they can do is give us a free month / £30 (i.e still no F1).

Personally I think that they should place us back in the position we would have been in had they done their jobs properly (I'd quite happily put movies back on to achieve this).

It seems the issue may be that their systems won't allow them to sort this, however I don't see why we should be punished for this.

Any thoughts misschief?

Does Sky offer a degree course in understanding their packages?

How in God's name is an ordinary punter supposed to keep up with this nonsense.

It's not that difficult.

They've moved F1 into the Sports package. Reasonably logical to me.

The frustration is that unless you like football the pricing model doesn't really work.

If the Beeb did highlight from every race, I'd ditch the current package.

As I suspected the old package isn't available anymore. I would imagine they could find some method of giving you sports at a much discounted price at least until the end of the season and then a credit to cover the rest.

Actually, they are amateurs.

Try understanding energy tariffs. These guys are the fking masters at the multi directional smoke screen.

This has happened to one of the guys over on Blatchat, they gave him a Month of sports free which has just finished, he opted to cancel but also contacted the head of Sky Sports to complain and it appears they admit they should have warned they'd lose F1 but didn't and they're offering him a free Sky Sports subscription so he get's his F1 back, worth a try

Yes - they are.

I sometimes catch up on qualifying and the race on iPlayer rather than watch it live or on the highlights programme.

True.

Choice is a great thing - but only if you can understand it.

Cheers Eric.

Think this might be the nail in the coffin for the current Sky package. Makes more sense to cancel the old one, take it out again (and get a shiny new box) and a cheaper package without F1... then catch up with F1 on iPLayer. smile

Or look at buying a Freeview HD recorder to view/save the BBC F1 broadcasts?

Of course there may be loads of other stuff broadcast on Freeview channels that you might like ... wink

I actually like Sky. The HD feed is good, and I like the UI on the box.

However, the prospect of paying £30 extra a month to watch F1 is a bit steep.

Does the NOW tv box allow you to watch F1?

I know you can buy 24 hour passes for Sky Sports for £9.99 but don't know if that does cover the F1 channel?

It does include the F1 channel but each £9.99 pass is for 24 hours only.

Those 24hrs aren't going to get you both the qualifying and race either.

Also do this twice a month you may aswell just subscribe to the sports channels.

You can get a Sky Go monthly ticket if you don't want a sky box and 12 month contract?
