I respect Ron for his achievements over the years. But watching the interview the other day I cringed where he says Martin is a close friend. Specifically after he's demoted him.

But then this is the same Ron that "acquired" Mobil 1 sponsorship from Williams whist Frank (another of Rons apparent friends) was coming to terms with his paralysis in 1986.

With friends like these...
You clearly don't respect him, but that's your prerogative. If you have respect for somebody, you simply don't post made up story's about them. Williams lost Honda (and Piquet) to Lotus, this is well known and not news.

I remember an interview with Ron in '88 (could have been '89) talking about their extraordinary level of success, and him saying something along the lines of "I hope to preside over McLaren's most success-full era" and I winced to myself thinking, "Be very careful what you wish for."

Looks like his wish came true.

Fool!

Listen, a quick search of your posts on McLaren related items indicates you love the marque. Great. That's your right. But then I notice you also feel there's a PH conspiracy against them in one post. Yeah. OK. By and large P1 was very well received. But the people that don't like it (which is their right) are out to bash McLaren for some reason? So you're wrong .

Anyway to answer your point. No. You're wrong again

It's what Teppic said above. The Japanese at Honda felt Williams would be "weakened" by his accident. Lotus had Honda engines (87-88) at the same time as Williams (84-87). When Williams lost out. McLaren gained in 88. But as per Ginny Williams book. It was a deal done when Frank was recovering from his life changing paralysis.

But hey, keep assuming I'm wrong and there's a conspiracy against the Woking giants.

Everybody, press and pitlane included, thought that his accident meant the end of Williams GP, Head notwithstanding. His life since then is inspirational, in many ways identical to those we've cheered on in the para-olympics, but no one at the time thought it possible for him to continue.

Further, the 'friction' between Honda and Williams was apparent well before his accident.

Honda set the timing.

Can't believe I'm actually going to agree with something DS has written! eek The horror!!!

He's right as well. FeelinLucky. Admit it. You're mistaken, just like I was when I said Mobil1 instead of Honda earlier. Difference was I accepted I was wrong and got over it. Unlike you who will not listen to facts. It's all on Wikipedia if you want to check yourself!

May as well write this year off (I'm not totally convinced they haven't already) and concentrate on next years Honda powered car.

Also may wish to read "How to attract a title sponsor for dummies"

Like they've done every year since Lewis last won the title.........

I'm a mclaren fan but anyone that that thinks the Honda engine will suddenly make them title contenders are living in cloud cockoo land.

They've had the best engine for years and what have they achieved.

How the mighty are fallen. Out of a good job for five minutes and already skint. Obviously cannot afford full length trousers. Lets have a whip round for a poor fella down on his luck.

Many PHers have said EVERYONE in the sport should go for some reason or other. Their hair, their personal relationships, what they wear - all good excuses to attack prominent paddock figures in every thread. During the season the F1 forum just becomes the place to have a moronic argument, rather than a place to discuss F1 with other fans.
Absolutely - don't you just love those posts which say - 'Well I wouldn't employ him ' ; or -'If any of my staff had said that I'd bloody well fire them ' .

Always interesting to get a personal insight into F1 from the co owner of a plumbing supply firm in Nuneaton .Who would possibly last five minutes in the F1 piranha club and whose experience of motor sport extended to once having been to a BTCC race as a VIP guest courtesy of a grout supplier...
PW:~ Does you good to have a moronic argument occasionally.

coppice:~ Oy! Nowt wrong with supplying grout.
