Id have to agree with a couple mentions now that Kimi will just get on with things regardless and Alonso will get caught up in all kinds of dramas (if there are any!) but i think the only time we would see fireworks between the 2, is if they were both doing well in championship and points become potential championship winners..

Way i see it, Kimi has earned his way into the most prestigious F1 team in the business.. twice !! And he won Fezza their last world championship, frankly they probably promised him the world - 'cos we all know, Kimi wont bow down to anyone !! He will want another title and he is gettin on now (oldest driver on the grid?) so doesnt have alot of time to potentially add to his WDC tally.. i hope this is enough to motivate him to drive the ta ta's off that ferrari !!

I think it will be somewhat like last year at Lotus, Grosjean almost constantly out-qualifying Kimi but then Kimi almost constantly ending up further up the grid by the end of the race.. i know Alonso is a different bag of potatoes altogether but still think Kimi will come out on top - Alonso will probably out-qualify him often.. but Sundays are where the points are earnt wink I like both drivers but Kimi is just to cool for school..

Before we get too excited about Lotus last year lets remember that early on Grosjean was suffering with tyre /strategy problems. There were more than a couple of dodgy calls from pit lane and he got the "let him pass" message a few times too.
Once Kimi announced he was leaving and the team had no reason to play politics Grosjean was right there, consistently.

Alonso is not a great qualifier, he was often behind Massa.

Kimi went to Ferrari because they will pay his wages on time.

I think Kimi has been brought in to to give Alonso a rocket up his arse and to let him know that he isn't indespensible.

Not really a big fan of either, marginally prefer Kimi but I think Alonso is the faster driver and so will win the head to head.

^ Could be significant as we all know how fussy Kimi is with his set-up compared to some other drivers out there.
Taking on Alonso with a car he isn't happy with wont make life any easier..........

......yet he has still set a faster lap time than Alonso (according to that article).

Doesn't look good for Kimi so far does it?

In 2007 didn't Dyer have to change the car quite significantly to suit the way Kimi drives? I'm not sure how we can know if the car would suit which driver better.

How did you work that one out?
Last year Massa out qualified Alonso 8 times...19 races in the season.
2012 Massa out qualified Alonso twice.
So Massa has out qualified Alonso 10 times, which would leave 29 races left over that 2 years where Alonso out qualified Massa.

Today Alonso out qualified Massa and Kimi.

It's astonishing they let kimi back, ferrari have eveything to lose really, not having a no2 driver, fair play to them to allow it though.

TBH given his performance so far it looks like Kimi will effectively be the no.2 driver purely on pace anyway.

Not impressive from the iceman so far. Although in fairness he did get some traffic in Q2 today.

Alonso is 2 up against the flying Finn after Melbourne.
Kimi should have been in the sim working hard on his left foot technique. Time will tell.

Dont agree on that. He kept Hamilton in check. And when they introduced the fastest qually lap/tyre rule - he made sure his starting tyre would give him a broader scope to work with during the race thus giving him more outs. Unlike Massa who on occassion had to pit early from excess tyre wear - because of his high appex speeds and team orders and so on.

without that ludricous rule I am confident Alonso would have gone all out during qually laps.
