Vettel is rated about right I reckon; for the most part... Hamilton is the faster driver... this dream of them both in the same car is actually a reality... they've been in the same car (ish) in F3 and Lewis dominated him... then again, Di Resta also beat Vettel the year after...
But not with both having an equivalent level of experience in the feeder series. Lewis had more years post Karting racing.

I think in Vettel's first season of F3 Euro series (after only 2 seasons of Formula BMW) he got more podiums than Lewis managed in his first season of F3 Euro series.
Kronstein. Logical responses like that will not go down well for very many here I'm afraid. Still, you saved me the task of posting a similar content response. No doubt we'd both be wasting our time in so doing. Mainly stoney ground and all that.

&?

In their first full seasons of F3 Seb had 6 podiums ...Lewis had 5, but one was a win! (& a pole)

Lewis had had 1 more season in the more junior series before he got to F3 ...but then Seb did start actually karting when he was 3!

Points mean everything when assessing who is "best"; getting into the best car, and getting the car to the finish is part and parcel. If Rosberg beats Lewis by coming 2nd in every race he will be the best, simple as that.
Really?

What about reliability?

2012 - Hamilton had DNFs when he was in the lead and ahead of Button by a margin yet WDC doesn't take this sort of thing into account.

Don't go posting sensible stuff like that.. there'll be many who won't tolerate it.. mainly stoney ground and all that...

To anyone interested, go and watch some of those old races and you'll get a feel for who the faster driver is... it's the closest we can get to equal machinery perhaps. Anyway, it's irrelevant I'll admit in as much as; drivers can improve and become more refined as they evolve whereas other may stall. I like Vettel; I prefer him as an individual to most of the grid; but driving wise; for me, Lewis is the more exciting driver who can stay on the knife edge for longer. He's been caged by st tyres for season upon season but with boots that last, we see the old Lewis.

Edit to add: Lewis beat Vettel in the season they were both racing. Lewis debut season was not the same as Vettels. Hamiltons GP2 season was pretty darned impressive also... worth a watch.

How can a four time world champion be overrated? Whatever you have, it still takes the best of the man and the best of the machine to work together. Anyone who reaches a)The sports professional ranks b) Wins titles at that sport cannot be overrated!

What about Multi 21? Because Webber didn't want to let him past. Vettel had to fight for it. THEN Webber couldn't retake the position.

History will concentrate on the controversy, not as an example of Seb as a racer.

Frankly I don't really care about the debacle. Some fans are fickle - we went from one period when the consensus disliked team orders to expecting Vettel to obey team orders. It was a good excuse to paint Seb as the villain just as "Fernando is faster than you" was another reason to bash Alonso - ironically no longer pantomime villain du jour, huge respect these days after being a c**t in 2007.

Bit early to say surely. Whilst he is very young his TRS results don't suggest much to watch out for.

This question has already been asked:-

So why change this thread to something already discussed? Being able to race and winning races are two different things.
