The best still get the best out of any car, because they adapt. We've seen Alonso and Hamilton win in all manner of cars and rules in every season, bar 1 for Alonso. There's a reason for that.
Alonso & Kimi had to adapt to the Bridgestone tyres in 2007 when previously they were used to Michelin's softer construction.Hamilton has been struggling with braking last year.
Kimi is struggling at Ferrari at the moment - he deserves a thread of his own.

Given that Alonso has NEVER underperformed in any other car, could it be more likely that he was simply outperformed by his teammate instead?
2004 - Trulli was better than Alonso till Jarno pressed the self-destruct button at the end of the French GP and then it went downhill for the Italian.Agent Orange said:
Listened to the BBC Chequered Flag podcast for China this morning.
Interesting comment from Ben Edwards. He was chatting to Gary Anderson recently and Gary mentioned he believes Vetttel is still driving the car in the same way he drove with blown diffusers.
Ricciadro has adapted his style. Vettel hasn't and appears to be struggling to do so. Horner also commented that they saw this at the start of the 2012 season but with updates to the car they were able to tailor it more to his liking and suddenly the results came.
Guessing we're in the same place right now. Vettel is finding the car doesn't suit him but if RB can change the car or Vettel can find the right setup to suit him he'll be back.
I guess the bigger question is would RB now develop the car in favour of Vettel given his current contract is only until the end of next season? Would you rather work with Ricciardo as he's the future of the team?
I think this is what a lot of people who have "doubted" Vettel over the last number of years have been saying. He's very very good with lots of downforce, but he's not shown he is adaptable to other driving styles. So therefore he is not one of the "greats". Well, apart from MGJohn who seems to have a thing that everyone else hates Vettel and only appreciates Hamilton and Alonso (Hamilton because he's British and Alonso because he's... well, who knows)!Interesting comment from Ben Edwards. Unlike many other drivers, for the major part of his F1 career, Alonso has had decent kit. Yes, even his now five seasons with Ferrari.
In F1 terms, I'd describe decent kit as something you could win a championship with. He's clearly not had that for the past 5 seasons, so I have to wonder what your definition of decent is.Is why Ferrari were always a little silent on Freds performance.
Massa did have the measure of Alonso on a couple of occasions.
Thing is though, we're just 4 races in. It's not that he can't adapt (though it may be), but all we know for sure is that he has not adapted yet. I find it a little bit funny that Hamilton is being put forward as a driver who can adapt, yet two or three seasons ago on these forums when Hamilton was getting beaten by Button a whole lot of us were drawing the same conclusions now being drawn for Vettel: Hamilton can't be a great because he can't adapt to the tyres.
Well he may have now but it certainly took him longer than four races. Also, we all seem to be expecting that, qith a car to his liking, Vettel will start blowing everyone away again. That suggests that he is great at least some of the time. To be honest, with the possible exception of Schumacher, I can't think of any of the great drivers who didn't have some or other in their armour that could be, and was, exploited by their competitors at some point. Perhaps even Schumacher's advantage was negated by new testing restrictions. Alonso seems to have few weak spots too, though I always remember him being stuck behind... um... that Russian guy for ages when he had a championship at stake. I couldn't see Senna or Schumacher losing the championship that way. Prost, perhaps.
EDIT: is censored?!? Did you guys get your Censored list from PD??

Yes, but it's the F1 forum, we cannot be sensible here. Anyone who disagrees Vettel is not the best is a Hamilton/ Alonso fanboy, and anyone who thinks he is the best is an idiot. So sweeping generalisations are required here,
