Kimi missed first practice then had a problem with his downshift in qualifying. He probably would have made Q3 too if Massa hadn't held him up.
I saw that although with the spray and everything it was a little confusing. I wondered if there would have been a penalty.Derek Smith said:

Massa was dropping back behind 2 other cars to give himself some space, Raikonnen should have done the same with Massa but overtook him and ended up behind the two other cars as he started his own lap. Raikonnen passed Massa before the last corner, so his speed onto the straight to start his lap was not compromised.

2 upshifts at 1.25 on lewis lap. ften they quote the pole ap as amazing but that really was impressive, some inor oppo lock corrections but very smooth and patient to get on the power. you could see he knew to wait before mashing the throttle despte it being tempting. The old lewis never left but lewis is back.

More than a couple, i see 4 slipups, nothing tragic, but probably another 4-5 tenths in there...
Agreed, without those small corrections there probably was another 4 or 5 tenths. But I reckon in those conditions and with the cars driving as they do now, those corrections are totally necessary to eek out that sort of lap time in the first place.I doubt he was kicking himself about those twitches. In previous years, perhaps, but I think the drivers expect this sort of action on a pole lap in the wet in 2014. It's what's required to find the limit and bring the lap time down in the first place and hence the drivers are loving it.

NR needs to keep it restrained into the first corner.
Yep, I'm slightly disappointed with Nico today for allowing Lewis' pace to get to him, he needs to engage his tactical brain and realise it doesn't matter; he just needs to keep bagging 2nd places while Lewis is in this form. If the tyres come his way tomorrow ok fine go for it, otherwise just relax... it's a long season.Although it was wet the conditions were still changing frequently so not a level playing field to use as a reliable yardstick. On at least two occasions so far this season during wet Qualifying conditions, a false impression has been created. On one Q3 session Vettel looked set to better Hamilton's time near the end when yellow flags forced him to abort. Until then, no drivers had been able to improve on their earlier 'banker' times. As it happened, Vettel still managed to improve on his earlier time with the previous attempt and that still secured second grid slot.
Even so you could be right but, I shall reserve judgement until more information becomes available as the season progresses. I'm not yet convinced that Hamilton's early dominance is a done deal for the rest of the season.
All very interesting though.

I think Bruno is making a good fist of presenting while Johnny is away GT racing.
Agree, always liked Bruno. Would to nice to see him back in a F1 race seat again.Merc for the win today, with RB, Ferrari, McLaren and Williams fight for that 3rd spot. Let's hope for a repeat of the type of racing seen at the last one.
