Mounting points i would imagine are the easiest problem to get over, remember when Brawn had to swap to a merc engine last minute to a tub designed to accept a honda, a quick mounting plate knocked up on a CNC machine did wonders for them. I think packaging would be more of a worry as the works outfits don't release the engines till the last minute its been reported, you may get a template to sort your mounting points but as for a whole engine with all its ancillaries......hmmmm i doubt theres a cardboard cutout for that lol!
All in all not a classic race but some good battles down the field IMO. And in the same way that it was good to see Massa not just give in to Bottas it was good to see Vettel not give in to Ricciardo this time. 3 laps difference on the same tyres isn't a different strategy, that's two guys in the race for a position.
Bahrain was a fair call with them on different strategies, yesterday was RB being a bit too cheeky to be honest.

I know it's going against team orders, but it's not surprising that he didn't want to give his place up to Riccardo, Massa didn't want to either.
The tough luck comment did make me chuckle, as did the Caterham coming past him.
Ricciardo was faster than Vettel and even though the Ferrari was a lot faster on the straights there was every chance he would be able to get by Alonso or at least have a go thus gaining another place and a podium, Vettel acting like the spoilt kid he is scuppered that chance; funny as I thought it was a team sport! The tough luck comment did make me chuckle, as did the Caterham coming past him.

Much as I've laid into Vettel on these forums, you don't earn your team four world titles without gaining at least a couple 'Tough Luck' tokens when asked to move over...
... even if he did over shoot the corner. Ha.
Have to admire how honest Vettel has been since being out performed by his team mate. There must be more to it, and he probably knows it, but he'll know everyone will call 'Bad Sport' if he airs his reasoning for the lack of pace.
It must sting, having had such winning streak and having to go back to zero. But I'd love to see him claw it back. That's why I watch his sport - not to berate the drivers, but to see them fking nail each and every race like it was their last.

The Merc engine was set too high in the Brawn chassis but wasn't such a huge disadvantage. But you are right. It isn't the hard points that are difficult it's the placing of the ancillaries....as anyone who has seen the fully clothed power units will know, the packaging is different for all 3 units.rubystone said:

The fact that they'd been running with several windtunnels in parallel on the double diffuser car was what really bought the success though, even given the 50mm or so of bad packaging on the car.
