Uh, do you know anything about his history in lower formulae? I am going with a Nope given the above.
Admit I dont know much about his lower formula performances other than he won many races and the GP2 title, was pretty good at Monaco and had some crashes (who doesnt?). In my view its better to be fast and a bit ragged and get to F1 with good results rather than be extremley mediocre (Senna jr, Sutil) and ponce about doing nothing. He didnt crash that often last year, and this year he is driving a dodgey car and his team mate is one of the quickest out there driving at his best. I just think all this critisism is pretty harsh considering he has just made a couple of mistakes in practice / qualy out of 5 races. I can only imagine how mental the internet forums would have gone if they were around when DeCesaris was binning it early-mid 80's.
My main critisim of him is as I said, he really doesn't see he's doing anything wrong so He doesn't learn or improve. Yes he can be quick, but there's more to F1 than being quick. As for driving a dodgey car, it was fast enough for 5th on the grid and raced to 8th by groejean, there are many other cars out there at the moment that are very tricky to drive, talk to Kimi about brakes that don't do what he wants. The caterham looks a right handfull, so to the Sauber. These drivers are all having trouble, but not as much a Maldanodo and they useusally avoid other drivers.
I'll be the first to admit, he's a better driver than most club drivers in the UK, but as with most things there reaches a point where you run out of talent, the current F1 cars require more talent to drive and race than he poseses.IMO.

The list of his cock ups goes back to previous years in F1 and lower formula. This year he has looked totally out of his depth, driving off the road in China whilst playing with his wheel controls, exiting the pits and driving into the side of the Sauber, at Barcelona it looked fairly obvious that he was running out of road, but he still kept his foot in. we could mention his 're-joining' of the track in Velencia into the side of Hamilton the list goes on.

Fair play, I agree though if he does nothing this year in comparison to Grosjean then it wont look great and he would probably just deserve a drive next year in a smaller team. Similar career path to Petrov probably! My main critisim of him is as I said, he really doesn't see he's doing anything wrong so He doesn't learn or improve. 'To find out if the new offer had been accepted, Sniff Petrol attempted to speak to Pastor Maldonado via Skype but he had somehow managed to crash his computer.'I think he is a jekyll and hyde character.
On his day he is very, very quick - when everything is right. I really rate him for that. He is not a pay driver in the sense that only money has bought him his seat. He is a genuinely fast racer.
But when he gets into some situations his fight vs flight gets extreme and he will not just fight - but retaliate, and that I cannot support.
