With his "skill" at hitting other innocent drivers and Massa's string of accidents that weren't his fault this year I'm surprised the two haven't crashed into each other yet.
I mused the same thing to the mrs. during the race, it's like some kind of weird paradox that they've never had a coming together.

I'm really surpirsed they haven't (yet) come together on track, if nay guy could manage it, Maldonado can. Maybe this weekend...

Unbelievable that he has been re-signed at Lotus, it beggars belief.

It is sad, but it is no surprise.

If you were Lotus... you need cash. You have a dog of a car this year. You aren't going to win lots of money for points at year end. 2015 will be a transition year with the new Merc engine (at least in the first 1/3rd of the year).

There aren't oodles of drivers with $20M to spend on a drive. Maldonado would walk into any of the back 4 teams and get a drive with that money.

I don't agree with the situation, but it is the reality.

Sadly, as you say that is reality.

Let's not forget that he isn't an entirely awful pedaller either... Accident prone I know, but when he's not crashing is he really so much worse a driver than some of the others out there?

I can only imagine what goes on inside Pastor Maldonados head when he sees the Martini Williams on the front row.

He alienated himself from the team, slagged them off, behaved like a pedigree jackass. He was so unpopular they didn't even want his money - when Martini came along they clearly leapt with joy at the prospect of getting rid of him at last. Williams team did a little dance when he flounced off to Lotus.

Pastor must surely look in the mirror and have some inkling of what an arse he can be.

Pastor - see that Williams up there at the front? That could have been you. If you had kept your nose clean, kept your head down and just drove, you could have stayed - your money would have been welcome. Silly boy.

Oh no, we don't have to go all through his sad and dangerous history of calamities again do we? For starters there was that infamous Monaco incident many years ago ....

Yes, for one reason, his attitude absolutely stinks. I'd rather have Chilton in a car than him.

That must be an interesting definition of 'accident prone'!

If they were in touring cars then he'd be halfway up the field, done well to win a race but not really a backmarker, just a shame he's racing in a series where the cars are a bit more fragile...

Indeed. I hate Maldonado and he doesn't deserve to be anywhere near an F1 car after the Monaco incident. He's an arrogant, deluded thug who has bought his way into the sport using ill-gotten oil money.

But.

With all of that in mind, and as I said before- he isn't an entirely awful pedaller. He probably isn't even the worst on that particular grid. And, he brings big bucks. Removing all emotion from the decision, you can see that Lotus' decision to sign him for longer is probably justified. I hope Lotus use him and his cash up and spit him out as soon as they have a competetive car again (Like Williams did tongue out)

Maybe that's the key - he should move into riding bikes. I can just see him in the Tour de France... no doubt he would be responsible for the worst multi-bike pile-up of all time.

I usually stay quiet on these matters as driving an F1 car is undoubtedly difficult, but I am pretty sure that even I could have kept it in a straight line.

Seriously - is there any reason that could be surmised for that crash? Looking at the wheel perhaps?
