I can sympathize slightly with Pastor on this one, if you dip a tyre onto the astro at Pouhon it automatically becomes 4 wheels off because the astro is very slippy wet or dry and the tarmac seems to fall away from you. The only way you'll keep the car heading in the right direction is to use balanced throttle and gently reduce your steering to let the car run. Those of you here who are saying "he kept his foot in it, what an idiot..." are missing the mark a little because if you get out of the throttle mid corner on a low grip surface the result is almost inevitably a spin.
But he lost it on the straight before Pouhon. He ran slightly wide at the exit of the corner before Pouhon, then finally crashed half way down the sraight.

So, what was the reason his team mate also retired his Lotus?

It's the fault of everyone that has ever been run into by Maldonardo that they were run into.

They should have removed themselves from danger and let him through.

I know, right? Why can none of these so-called 'racing drivers' take a step back and look at the bigger picture!? They'd be much safer behind Maldonado...

Exactly.

It's a bit like someone protesting at St Peter's gate, "I was on a pedestrian crossing, I had right of way"... you're still dead mate. Everyone was taking their normal line, as they are entitled to, but knew Maldonardo was there and they could have given him space.

True. And you will only have to wait a lap or two for him to either hit someone else or fall off the road in any event....

Yes, he probably should have put the indicator on and pulled over to make sure there was no chance of being hit. It wouldn't have been his fault if he did have an accident, but he was asking for it by not doing so, wink

The only surprise is it took until FP2... He looked like an accident waiting to happen all morning in FP1

I suspect the poor Lotus mechanics are the only ones not laughing !!

The rest of the world though, yup. Along with despair that he has this license and is allowed in F1.

I think they said he walked through the garage without speaking to anyone and out through the back of the garage in the direction of the hospitality suite.

Well to be fair, he is paying most, if not all, their wages.

Crashing the cars at the rate he does, still doesn't outweigh the money he brings in....

Yet.

Might be more helpful if he went straight to the simulator and learnt how to drive?!!?
