I saw this thread had been renewed and I thought: "what now?".

And just after Lotus had announced reduced losses ....

At least he didn't injure anyone.

makes a mockery of f1. Basically if you're loaded or have the right backing, you can do it. Which I know we all know, but still.

They said that Renault/Lotus have stopped developing this year's car and working towards their 2015 car.

I guess Pastor will continue developing the current car with the aid of Armco?

I'd got it streaming on my phone whilst working on a car outside - there were two blokes walking past when they commentated that it was red flagged and there'd been a crash, one of them piped straight up with "I bet it's Maldonado!" - before they even said who it was.

No it doesn't. He has talent. He beat Alonso in a straight race, IIRC.

He might be ragged, but he can be quick. This years car is a dog, neither he nor Gosjean suddenly forgot how to drive.

He is along way back in my list of preferred F1 drivers, but say it makes a mockery is a little too far. He is at least quick on his day. More complex than just being a "pay driver"

Yes, I agree. Don't get me wrong, he would be one of my very last picks as an F1 diver on talent alone, I just want to highlight that he has raw speed and talent, it's just very badly managed by him in terms of control and anger.

There is talent there, just not sure what in.

Can we get a "Maldonado. Not of this planet" PH t-shirt please? Would much prefer over "leave me alone I know what I'm doing"

Great. I think Hamilton dropped his McLaren in the same gravel trap in China a few years back? I could pick a few random Youtube clips of top driver crashing into things, including the wall of champions, so I don't think your clips are conclusive.

I'm not defending the guy as the next Alonso wink

I'm saying he has some raw talent, it's just inconsistently applied. And he has an attitude. And money. But there is some raw speed there as well.

His car good to go for FP3. They ran short of wheels, but never mind...

Lewis dropped it because he was flat out, as a rookie with tyres down to the canvas because the geniuses on the McLaren prat perch left him out. Slightly different circumstances methinks.

Apart from the bad attitude the problem with Pastor is he bins it every weekend, mainly through ineptitude. Yes the car is ste but simply not turning the steering wheel enough and crashing as a result is a bit of a joke to be honest.

Here are a few. Several I am unclear how it is even possible to crash as he did.
