speculation, but probably the front wheels and hence steering wheel were forced round by the impact? You think of all people crashtor would know to take his hands off the wheel during an impact though...

He just almost dropped it again, and nearly took out a Williams!

The commentators every F1 weekend:

"Maldonado has crashed again, but remember one time three years ago he did well, so we'll forgive him this time..."
But that is what frustrates and confuses them the most,. He can be very very quick.

If Renault buy the Lotus team (as seems likely) I wonder if they'll keep him on? He's not marketable (outside Venezuela) and is a bit of a liability on track so I'd expect them to release him and take on Palmer, who has some cash and some talent in more equal quantities than Pastor.

So where does Pastor go then? Sauber? They already have two contracted drivers for 2016 but that hasn't stopped them before wink

I almost feel sorry for Pastor now.... he is in a position where nobody takes him seriously and even his own team openly mock him.... that isn't a nice position to be in for anyone really. I think what makes it worse is he has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he is actually rather fast... I really can't get my head around his attraction to parking the car in the barriers.

VT5,

I used to race karts. One of my competitors was faster than me. He crashed a lot. I won the championship, he was top 6. Look at Prost, or Audi's WEC record. Consistently fast and in control beats on the raggy edge 9/10 times.

Pastor's job is to score points, not drive into other objects quickly. The fact he can't learn this means he deserves the mockery!

hey I'm not defending him...... just saying I feel bad for the guy - he is basically embarrassing himself week after week.

oops Pastor has crashed again...so that's Friday and sat. true to form.

get that plonker out of the car. he is a liability!!

if Renault buy the lotus team he was saying his drive is safe ? really? your $30 million to the team is a weeks budget for coffee for Renault you muppet.

will be glad to see back of him and get a decent young talent in there like.

can;t believe Ferrari have kept kimi. I think Kimi is great but get a younger talent in there please like the Hulk or Vergne. I guess Vettel has got like Schumacher in terms of dictating the number 2 driver. ...don't get anyone too quick like Riccardo who would show me up ;-)

hehe . It's not impossible that Maldonado has a time machine just for having the same crash again, as a sort of Groundhog Day.

Hard to take seriously the comments of someone who doesn't even understand the weekend timetable and who doesn't realise he's watching a repeat.

I would love to know how much Pastor has cost Lotus in crash damage. Can't be far off what he brings the team. Perhaps if they paid a decent driver that got better results and didn't cost so much in damage the increase in prize money would be a better net result wink
