If Total Cost of Repairs > Total Value of Missing Oil Money

then its a no-brainer!

Renault boss: "Ok Pastor, we've finalised our 2016 plans, do you want to be the first to see them?"
Pastor: "Yes please boss"

They screwed 2015 up by having Giedo van der Garde and Adrian Sutil and then dropping them (4 into 2 don't fit) they already have 2 drivers for 2016 and probably doesn't want a 3rd driver and another legal case this year.

I'd quite like to see him in aManor.

I'd very much like them to get his money

I kind of hope that Maldonado turned up at headquarters to see the car and his visit went like this
  • swipes card*..."errurrh"
  • swipes card*..."errurh"
  • presses call button*.... "Hello?"
"Hello, it's Pastor"
"Hi Maldo, my man, what's going down?"
"Well my card no worky on the machine"
"Ahhh yes....*click*"
Kev turns up
"what's going on Pastor?"

Nah. They said he was going to hit a new level in 2014 and he didn't. Then again in 2015 and he didn't. He is what he is, there's nothing more to come in my opinion.

Well he has hit lots of things, levels perhaps not being one of them.

The thing is, there's some real pace within him, perhaps just not the refinement at the limit f1 requires.

If he'd stop dicking around in F1 he could have had a decent stab at rallyX or something where you can afford to be a little less precise.

Sadly I suspect his backing will get him a making-up-the-numbers drive somewhere.

Formula E. Would bring them money and publicity.

The problem is that his backing seems to have evaporated, hence him losing the Renault drive

My point was more about where he could have more chance of success rather than looking silly, and is employing captain catastrophe to crash on cue and boost audiences what formula E is looking for? I thought it was aiming to be a bit more "mature" and "responsible" and highbrow.

Maldonado should be driving this next year -

He has much better car control and driving skill than the scrap dealers who make up 90% of the starting grid at a banger race, as proven by the fact that he is not a mobile chicane in F1 and has actually won a race. His problem is that he is too prone to crashing and causing damage which wouldn't be an issue in bangers. He could be a world champion in banger racing.

Even if his PDVSA backing is still there, I can foresee a small issue with an oil company being asked to sponsor electric car racing...
