So, it appears Nicos side of the garage studied Lewis's car set up data from the Malaysian Grand Prix to understand why he was so quick, this is of course quite normal and Nico confirmed they had and will continue to, fair enough as it'll work both ways i'm sure

So, my conspiracy theory; Lewis complains or was told to complain by his side of the garage about balance, grip, tyre deg etc etc, leaves it till saturday night to say he's gambled on a sunday set up so as Nico doesn't pinch his data, come race time he just blows Nico a kiss and waves goodbye

What d'ya reckon?

Could happen. Maybe. It's said that Senna and Prost did much the same re. tyre choice, double and treble bluff.

On the other hand, JB is on record as saying "If I pinch Rubens' settings, I'll be slower than him".

No 2 setups are the same so there would be little point unless your really stuck on what direction to take and have a really horrable car and are desperate, what NR was reading up on was race data not set up specifics, 2 differant (although linked) things, drop the tin foil hat and save if UFOs and MIBs.

Johnny Herbert out-qualified his teammate Schumacher. From then on he got no info from that side of the pit whilst MS had full access to his. I got that from his parents.

It's not as if his car was slow. I think we're just in a situation where Lewis is dialled in to the car, has his head in the right place, and is driving to his potential.

what,s the betting that if the pair of them pull well clear in the points from the rest of the field lewis encounters a breakdown or two more than nico.

How can that work? Have the FIA or RBR have a secret control panel to induce Merc failures?

What i think is this, Lewis is the blue eyed boy in the team, ok Nico has been there a while now and done nothing wrong even giving MS a run for his money to boot but something just tells me the senior management favour Lewis more that Nico, at the moment its too early to make things too obvious but i predict that Lewis will start getting the rub of the green well before the team should start favouring one driver from the other from a championship point of view

I don't think Nico is treated any differently than Lewis in the team.

Seems that Merc have already sewn up the Constructors, and , unless they really drop the ball on car development & .a. n . other team finds something miraculous , one of these two will be WDC. . . . so, why , exactly would they favour one over the other.

The "let them fight" ethos is getting them more good publicity than anything else could achieve, and it is not that anyone else is likely to get close enough to end up in a 2007 situation where RAI nicked it from under the nose of the McLaren guys as they stole points from each other.

The Mercs are (and I suspect will remain ) far enough ahead of the rest that they will not need to favour one over the other.

On reflection this "double points" malarky could end up giving us something quite special (albeit contrived)

That's odd as I get the impression that Lewis looks a bit of a loner around the garage.

By contrast Nico always seems to be chatting with The top-brass

I loved the time when LH high-fived all the McLaren garage, whenever he entered, and used some words from the film Cool Running, to say he would just rise above the flack that came his way from the Alonso camp / FIA.

He seems a very different person from 2007. I preferred the original as he sometimes seems like he chasing dragons - especially the one called Nicole.

With Niki Lauda being involved I'd be guessing he'll be ensuring all relevant information is being shared between both drivers...

lewis grew up witht hat team for a young age. mercedes is maybe more of a business relationship rather than family one.

Thats very true. There will come a point, there always does, when the relationship between the drivers gets very... "strained". This can result in very public spats, large piles of broken car, or if you're a complete snake betraying your team to the fia. But Lauda does come across as the person, if anyone, with the skill, character, experience, and take.no.5h1t attitude to stay on top of this.

That he might but won't stop him ensuring all relevant information is available to both sides of the garage...

It does seem Rosberg was doing a great job under difficult conditions.

One question though - they keep talking about tracking the fuel, and Rosberg relaying this. Why didn't Merc send someone to sit with the FIA/TV companies that seem to be able to show this data on screen when they want? Just seems strange that the audiance were gettign better info than a team? It's not secret anymore??
