Caterham F1 Gone?
Discussion
Has someone from Caterham actually stated that there are suitors out there? The valuation put out there for the group might seem a little 'optimistic' but is definitely good PR fodder..but surely the only way to exit is by 'doing a Honda' (ask a certain bearded Angler about how that works...)
The source is quoted as saying they wont be getting their hand on Merc engines anytime soon but does that mean they wont be using them because they want to produce their own to rival and beat Merc such as BMW/Audi or does that mean that Merc would refuse to sell them engines?
Any who I don't think it will be a German firm. Volkswagen have the WRC, Audi have WEC, and Porsche WEC and I doubt Opel will enter a team.

Whatever the price, it's going to be cheaper than starting from scratch. It's a crap F1 team, but it's still an F1 team.davepoth said:

The issue is the price that TF says the group is worth. And I am not aware that he has agreed to break it up. From memory that price is around £250m. thegreenhell said:
When it was first rumoured a couple of months ago, the figure quoted for the group was £350M. I'm not sure what else is included in the group, but that seems an incredibly high figure for a poor F1 team and a kitcar manufacturer.
Indeed. The 'kitcar manufacturer' is worth £5m on a good day. The composites business seems to have a lot of employees. I wonder whether it turns a profit.rubystone said:

Honda are coming back to F1 with McLaren, but as such have no 2nd team to supply to help with development. None of the current teams are willing sign up with them due to their unknown potential. So Honda decide to recreate what they did last time albeit without a proper 'customer' car. This team used to be based at Leafield before they folded, and they have recently resurrected in the new Formula E series..........Super Aguri anyone?

Might open up Forza and paint up a Lotus F1 later...
It's a Swiss/Middle-east consortium apparently.

So really we are none the wiser.
