Lots of rumours circulating that Sutil has been dropped by Sauber:

e.g. http://forums.autosport.com/topic/194153-sutil-out...

and http://www.f1update.co.uk/F1/sutil-to-be-replaced-...

I hope so.....

Only thing he brought to F1 was his girlfriend.

Good.

Grey man in a grey car.

Utter tedium with no value as far as sponsors are concerned.

Sauber need to get some pizazz going, some renewed purpose. Sutil is a double dose of sleeping pills.

Sutil replaced by van der Garde?

That's like replacing a used elastoplast with a used elastoplast that's been on your dog.

He hasn't done much to warrant being kept on this season, has he?

I expected more from a driver with his experience, but surely Sauber can find better than van der Garde to replace him?

hmm if you read the links it sounds more like Sutil has dropped Sauber or at least his sponsors have dropped Sauber thus forcing Sauber to drop Sutil.

Sutil brings at least £5m to the table with his personal sponsors. But VdG is married to the daughter of the guy that owns McGregor...from memory...so I guess he might trump Sutil...if he really wants to...but the Sauber is a dog and was a right handful at Silverstone...maybe VdG is better off chasing Maldonado's seat next year if PDVSA pull out?

A poorly designed 2014 car that cannot easily be improved. A driver with more money and a team that within 4 races will be sold or wound up by creditors.

So something has happened with the (Sutil0 sponsors and Sauber, performance clauses maybe? Therefore McGregor money would make sense, but FFS, you'd want to sponsor a driver who actually can bring some real return on your investment, wouldn't you?

Is vdG's mrs cute? smile

I didn't understand why FI had him back last year to be honest, the only reward they got was him hitting team mate Di Resta twice in the first few races and generally being a bit rubbish.

One can only assume that VDG would be looking for some assurances about a seat for next year - no point paying out to drive the dog that is this years car.

Lotus are having similar problems aren't they, the car is clearly poop and lets remember that Maldonado left Williams in a huff because he thought the car wasn't good enough. I can see him trying to buy a Force India seat. Lotus will need to replace him and the money, enter Jolyon Palmer - lots of budget (Daddy owns a circuit or three) and now reasonably handy in a GP2 car after 4 seasons.
If Maldonado stays it'll be curtains for Grosjean (which would be a terrible waste).

God help us all if Maldonado stays.

Couldn't the FIA rule Maldonado illegal and have him banned? Hang on, they did in lower formulae a few years ago, didn't they?

I'd totally forgotten Sutil was even driving a car. He won't be missed if true. No doubt he'll reappear in DTM.

This year's Enstone car looks pretty good to me....so with Merc power and tech, maybe it's a decent bet for 2015?

With several team teetering - all ammo for Bernies' 3rd car plan?

Fuller grid, arguably closer - but poorer racing.
