The first half of Nurburgring is quite technical and will favour the Red Bulls (and Mercs, obviously). I think it will give them enough of a gap to prevent the Williams coming sailing past them on the straights (or the long flat out section with the curve).

It'll be interesting to see who uses FRICS and who protests them.
I suspect as Merc have chickened out, there will be no protest....if it is McLaren pushing this, would seem a stupid thing to do in terms of burning bridges, if the Honda things goes south, they will be screwed.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Williams. Similar circuit layout to Austria in many ways, both cars so strong in the last two races (Silverstone Q1 excepted).
I wouldn't be surprised to see another Williams front row lock out. Remember Massa on course to win in 2010 I believe? Before those famous "Fernando is faster than you" words...

I can see mention of McLaren deciding to remove it from their cars and FI run it at some races and not others but nothing definitive about Merc. Autosport are suggesting that a team could have it on their car on Thursday with an aim to get a ruling from the stewards on the legality prior to Friday practice - I guess during scrutineering?if it is McLaren pushing this, would seem a stupid thing to do in terms of burning bridges, if the Honda things goes south, they will be screwed.

The first part of Hockenheim is fast, and the Red Bulls will struggle. The second part is pretty technical though and mechanical grip will be the order of the day. So expect the Red Bulls to get mugged off the start.
The straight that curves is still relevant though.

That said, I am really interested to see how FRIC (or it's removal) helps McLaren. And maybe Williams too. That could shunt RB back down the order.
I think its more the reverse, it'll push them back to STR / Force India etc. I think RB will gain from the change.Merc boys will be interesting, Lewis has won here from pole, Rosberg's highest finish is 8th but that probably says more about the equipment than the driver.
I don't think that home support for Nico will affect Lewis, it could come down to who can adapt to the non FRIC suspension the quickest.
