Biggest story of today is the McLaren balls up. What on earth do they do for strategy? Always seems they try to be clever and do the opposite to everyone. It comes good probably 1 out of 10 times for them. Jenson made clear he is very unhappy with the team and rightly so. Things like this are why Hamilton left.

Someone gains and someone loses after a safety car today it was Lewis but for example Nico gained in Bahrain.
Also Nico would have won today if he hadn't dropped behind Vergne and Alonso after the safety car.
My statement was aimed at the quote below, which suggested that Hamilton alone was responsible for today's result, whereas imo it was largely the result of good fortune with the safety cars. Coming from the pit lane to 3rd at the Hungaroring in an uninterrupted race would have been a very impressive performance, but today luck played a larger part than skill, imo. Also Nico would have won today if he hadn't dropped behind Vergne and Alonso after the safety car.

No doubt you could put a few of the top drivers in that Merc and they'd win or come home second BUT I doubt they'd all be able to come from the pit lane to 3rd. It's races like this one when drivers show what they can do, the reason Merc pay Hamilton what they do.
I could understand it being made out Max Chiltern could do the same job if Nico was smashing Lewis left right and centre leaving him to just collect the seconds and thirds but it isnt like that at all.

Fantastic race, genuinely happy to see Ricciardo win again, he's very impressive and such a likeable character.
A classic Hamilton race, superb drive again. Poor move from Mercedes, what happened to the 'no more team orders'?.
Rosberg was never close enough to overtake, he would have been had he been fast enough to get into the DRS zone. Yesterday Rosberg was saying he wanted fair fights with Hamilton...
Rosberg lost his own race bumbling about after the safety car came in, he doesn't seem to have the killer instinct like Hamilton, Alonso and perhaps even Ricciardo. You only have to look at how Hamilton despatched Vergne straight away. That move was sublime.
I think only Alonso could have performed a similar drive, I cannot for a minute see Rosberg performing such a recovery.
Another case of déjà vu for McLaren, how many times can they balls up their strategy so badly? Unbelievable.
I see the anti-Hamilton brigade are having a field day, it makes for entertaining reading, their blood pressure must be through the roof whilst posting. I'm wondering if they'll post anymore though, surely with their superior knowledge over absolutely everyone, including drivers and team personal, they'll be managing the teams from now on.
Perfect summary! Spot on.A classic Hamilton race, superb drive again. Poor move from Mercedes, what happened to the 'no more team orders'?.

I was out all day and didn't get the result. Just watched on on recording and I have to say this was one of the best races this season, and this season has been full of excellent races.
Nice to know that the thrill hasn't meant that there are no moaners.
Right up until the last two laps we didn't know the winner and right up until the third corner into the last lap we didn't know who would be in front out of the two WDC leaders.
Thrilling isn't the word. It was magic.
There were some excellent drives: Ric, Alonso and LH all put in sterling drives. NR came fourth and I feel should have done better, but that was a close call.
That was great.
I spent the day at Silverstone looking at F1 GP cars of the past and being all nostalgic but I can remember just one race (Monza, 1970?) where is was just the same in the dry.
Cor! What a cracker.
I'll post some pictures of the F1 cars, including a video of Stirling Moss trying to outpace me.
What a day.

What's an anti-Hamilton brigade then? Is there a membership fee and do you get a badge? Is it any different to the anti-Vettel/Maldonado/Alonso/Massa brigade or is membership interchangeable?
It is similar to the Boys brigade except that you don't have to have worked for the BBC in the 70's.confucuis said:
Is there anywhere I can watch this again guys? Bear in mind I'm not in Britain so I probably wont be able to watch the bbc Iplayer or whatever sky has!
I decided to not watch this race and sun myself instead, what a stupid move that was!!
Torrent sites will have it, I can see one that has it up already, 2.5gb to download though so you will need a speed connection.I decided to not watch this race and sun myself instead, what a stupid move that was!!

I certainly don't think I'll find anyone outside of a forum who would describe Hamilton as average - again, forum posters who clearly think that top team management don't know what they're doing, 'cos top team mangement and their sponsors pay millions for the likes of Hamilton etc.
This season and last Hamilton and Rosberg have been pretty even, the previous two seasons Hamilton and Button were pretty even, either they're all greats or all pretty average, and I don't think they're greats. Button's single WDC was in a car that had a clear advantage, and Hamilton has been in a top car every season since 2007 and managed just a single WDC. Good, certainly, exceptional? No, imo.RYH64E said:

Neither of your points about Button and Hamilton are correct, so it's clear you don't have a great understanding of the sport.Do you think you know better than all the movers and shakers within the sport?

How many times, since last year Merc have said no team orders, someone fked up and it wasn't Lewis, plus you don't know what is in his contract, it could say team orders only apply with technical problems etc
If I was employed as a driver and in my contract it said equal treatment no way would I move over.
Equal treatment also means Rosberg being instructed to hold station and not pass Hamilton and compliance. I clearly remember that on at least one occasion where Rosberg complied and stated. If I was employed as a driver and in my contract it said equal treatment no way would I move over.

I am delighted with what Hamilton did today for reasons previously stated. You owe me one..

The season has been quite interesting so far. The rest will I suspect be even moreso with the added interest now of both Red Bull and Ferrari showing improving form.
Hey... Massa 5th ... now there's a thing ...

While he wasn't solely responsible for his 3rd I don't think Nico would have done as well if the positions were reversed look how he struggled to overtake Vergne compared to Lewis overtaking him a few laps later.
except Rosberg basically had no brakes and a few laps later Vergne tires were completely shotHungrymc said:

But you'd never disagree with the experts when they talk about water cooled porsche engines.I do respect your right to fly in the face of how the majority of people see the (none) incident. But I find it an even stranger view than the conspiracy theorists who believe mercedes are sabotaging Lewis's car.
I think it's called 'attributional flip' it's nothing to do with stupidity or intellect. It's all to do with personal prejudices and bias, it's perfectly natural (I was often of the opinion Seb was very lucky, it's because I didn't like him)
I can quite understand some of Hamilton's lifestyle choices being criticized but one thing he isn't is a chav.
