With a known finish merc driver and merc car, driver to be decided by reliability, may as well toss a coin
some minor interest in 3rd place
I just don't understand how people can be so negative about this season when it is, as Derek says, an absolute classic. If you really think that then I can only surmise that you either have no interest in F1 or else are trolling. some minor interest in 3rd place
Standing restarts are possibly the single most stupid idea proposed yet. The delays from a SC are bad enough without wasting even more time forming up on the grid and waiting for the "5 and go". Especially since you would have to wait for all cars to unlap themselves before forming up.

yes i have no intrest in these cars, I think F1 should be b@lls out, not saving fuel and tyres, as for telling LH to let NR pass, that was it for me, would rather spend my time on mumsnet.

Let's see: that 3rd place would have been what car at the last race?some minor interest in 3rd place

FFS Mark Weber 3rd last year, you could ask 1,000,000,000 they would,nt know or care, are you are suggesting they is some interest in 3rd place this year, if so my money would be on the safety car, only thing i av seen that regularly gets in front of the Mercs, just needs to lift and coast a bit more, always seams to be pitting when its out in front
Well perhaps I'm a bit odd as I was interested in where the McLarens came. I know that makes me a bit sad and probably a bit of a nerd, but then that hardly make me unique in GP racing.I thoroughly enjoyed the battle between Alonso and Vettal the previous race.
Whilst whoever wins is important - not much point in racing otherwise - there is so much more to GP racing. I'd suggest that out of the two - who wins and how everyone else did - the later is the more fascinating.
I accept my point of view might not be that of the majority of the viewers, but I know a lot of fans who think exactly the same.
Where I used to live there was a group of sad GP fans and my job, with my laptop and the F1 live timing - before it was seen as a way of squeezing even more money out of the fans - used to give lap and sector timings. Any purple would generate interest. Some, the majority, of the group would want to know how their driver/car was doing if it wasn't covered on screen.
I always thought this was the norm but it seems I was wrong.

50 points for the last race makes it a Merc reliability lottery, bookies giving 1-1000 on Merc constructors champ, is bit of a clue

So why are you even bothering to post on this forum then? Maybe you could take your negativity elsewhere.yes i have no intrest in these cars, I think F1 should be b@lls out, not saving fuel and tyres, as for telling LH to let NR pass, that was it for me, would rather spend my time on mumsnet.
It's like going into football threads to proudly state that you have no interest in football.

FWIW, I think he's right. Many of us could remember who was Champion for years past; few could honestly tell you from memory who was third.

Because i use to like the "sport" and i think its gone down the wrong road, f football went through the changes F1 has some fans would post, lets go back to the old game, do you find that confussing ?
Football HAS gone through significant changes over the years.Watch a match from 1970 and see how different it looks.
And that's the point the fans DON'T complain.

Maybe they like the changes, and think its for the better, How are there TV ratings? do the have dubble goals for the last game of the season?
They don't have double goals, but there have been many changes to the rules that would have been unthinkable 50 years ago - substitutes
penalty shoot outs
multiple changes to offside rules
changes to when goalies can handle the ball
I am not saying that I like the way modern F1 has gone - but I'm not saying that all changes are bad eitehr. In fact, motor sport has to change quite frequently as it is as much about technology as it is sport. Whilst I'd love to see Alfa 158s fight out a world championship, it wouldn't really be appropriate for 2014.
I think the double points for the last race is a nonsense and I am still hopeful that it will be rescinded before we get to the last race.
But then, I also disliked the period in F1 when drivers had to drop points towards the end of the season.
