They don't have double goals, but there have been many changes to the rules that would have been unthinkable 50 years ago -

substitutes
penalty shoot outs
multiple changes to offside rules
changes to when goalies can handle the ball . . .
It's the same with rugby. I was given a video of pre-professional 'great' rugby matches and they were a shock, despite me having watched many of them at the time. The match nowadays has a number of significant changes. There's a lot based on health and safety, especially in the scrums and tackles. For instance, there were concerns that players were getting seriously injured with the fitter and faster requirement so they invented replacements. Problem solved.

Rugby nowadays is much better to play and watch yet people still bemoan the 'good old days' when anyone who could break into anything faster than a walk was a winger. There are those who suggest that these old style players would run rings around any current team but some of the international players wouldn't be in the championship team regulars.

If in the last race of the season 1 merc breaks and one wins, which could easily happen thats 50 points and the championship yawn on

What? "Dubble" sorry, I don't often do this but there's no excuse for that one!

I nearly said something along those lines too but I held back on the assumption that perhaps the poster had learning difficulties.

This years points system change did not take into account, the challenges of developing i hybrid power unit, the obvious thing to have done would be let the drivers, not the constructors drop there worst 2 results,
