So Whitmarsh finally parts company with Mclaren. Feel for him a bit, he was properly made the scapegoat imo and its hardly going brilliantly for them now that big Ron is back in control.

I'm sure that will happen, he has some good allies in the media.

Seems like they finally settled the squabble over money.

Wonder if there is any gagging order in place ....time will tell.

We won't see the fruits of big Ron's labour until 2015/16.

I think that Bish trumps Martin on media though.

True, but Renault don't have the Sam Michael curse to deal with.

That's a shame, i always thought he was a decent enough guy, if not a little wet.

I never understood what boullier bought to the team. I didn't like him at Renault, I don't like him now. Didn't he start of washing tyres or something?

I think he tastes all the food before it's served. ALL the food.

What did McLaren win during Ron's reign in decade preceding Martin's tenure?

Dunno, but didn't they get all their points removed part way through one season? hehe

A yes man for Ron....dont forget eric "this guy is bringing us millions and you should all take him seriously" Boullier

To be honest whit marsh had already put in play much of what Dennis is taking credit for, hiring new staff, and Honda's £££

Not saying he was perfect but fact is last 20 years Mclaren haven't won as many world titles as they should have, and Ron was in charge for many of those championships

I thought Ron going was to get Mosley off of their back what with his snide comments about Dennis being the only Team Principal to bring a Manager along with him to meetings.

It was a mistake to change their car for the last year of the previous regulations.

I think Whitmarsh could be a nice guy. Shame he may getting done over for that. I think him flying to Germany to get the Daimler Benz board or petition Haug to allow Brawn to have the Brixworth HPE engine after Honda withdrew was sporting and altruistic.

I would be surprised if Whitmarsh writes a book in the foreseeable future. Autosport are reporting that he has received a 'generous' severance package which reflects his 24 years service. Such packages usually include gagging orders for both parties and in any case, he is hardly going to need the money.

Whitmarsh became team principle for the 2009 season so from 1998 to 2008, Denis presided over 3 drivers championships and 1 constructors, plus lots of wins. During Whitmarsh's reign he had the only year in McLaren's history since 1980 without a single podium.

While they had their faults Mclaren were a team winning in spite of everything fair and foul ferrari and the fia could do to try to stop them when Ron relinquished control... since then they've become a parody of themselves, and supporting them was painfull; beginning with always turning up having the goods to win but dropping the ball 1 yard short so to speak with repeated bungled pitstops etc, then declining from a team that *could* win to midfield mediocrity and whats been remarkable throughout this is whitmarsh just never gave the impression that he was anything less than satisfied, and nothing seemed to change. He just wasn't the leader an F1 team needs.
