Nico's punishment.

I think there are plenty of people who recognise how it is possible to use the front wing almost like a blade.
Are any of them current F1 drivers? Alonso has said you'd have to be a surgeon to do it, Vettel has commented that it's very difficult to judge exactly where the end of the front wing is. Jasandjules said:

That would have been quite apt after Monaco.
I suspect now (having given the benefit of the doubt before) he did laugh away when he selected reverse...Now it stinks even more.

Indeed. I think there are plenty of people who recognise how it is possible to use the front wing almost like a blade. A good driver can place the wing 'just so", so that it punctures the car ahead. I think it was pre-meditated. Schumi would be proud of the lad Rosberg.
I'm going to go out on a limb here. I hereby assume you've not even done a proper test day, never mind a race. John D. said:
Personally I thought that looked very sus at the time. Mostly down to the sawing at the wheel as he went through the braking zone.
Now it stinks even more.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps hitting a bump, going a bit too fast and having to stamp on the brakes.. Now it stinks even more.
But the reverse was difficult to overlook. Now, very difficult to overlook.
Is a fine sufficient punishment I wonder? I do wonder what else was said behind the scenes as to what might take place should he crash into Lewis again.

if you're suggesting that just because they can't see their front wings they don't know where they are is laughable.

Every ?... accurately ?.... try none ... without some risk to their own car ?
Part 3212567 of the LH v. NR show now starting on BBC2 TV for those paupers like me who cannot afford to throw any hard to come by into the sky.
I see a racing incident, others see superior precision driving skills even Alonso would surely covet.

Am I missing several psittacae here?

It's ridiculous to suggest that anyone could do that so accurately, without risking damage to themselves. Are you really saying that Rosberg knew he could puncture Hamilton's tyre and had a chance of not sustaining damage? Really?
Am I missing several psittacae here?
did I say anything about causing zero damage?Am I missing several psittacae here?
front wing damage is not terminal (unlike tyre damage to the floor) and worse case, you can change a front wing - which he did and still came 2nd with a 18 point gain over Lewis.
I would call that a reasonable gain wouldn't you?

I'm just referring to remarks made by 2 current F1 drivers who both happen to be multiple world champions. at the speed this contact was made, I would suggest every driver on the grid has more than enough talent to be able to accurately do this.

And your F1 experience is?

oh do stuff off...And your F1 experience is?
you honestly think they can't accurately hit an apex lap after lap?
it's child's play to them, yes at a high speed differential it would be pretty hard, but at the speed differential in this case, he had plenty of time to plan/execute it.

The Apex isn't moving. Folk still find it difficult to hit it. Hulkenberg was missing it repeatedly in qualy today.
Alonso and Vettel were commenting directly on the Rosberg/Hamilton incident.
But you know better........

No other decent driver thinks NR has done anything wrong..
Of course he did something wrong, he was clumsy in re-joining his position behind the car in front and broke his wing. Scuffers said:
