Easily the most dull race of the season so far, but I'm pleased it's brought the championship back to life. Also good to Ferrari looking better.

I think this just proves that street circuits don't make good races! The Williams pit stop incident is bizarre. It definitely doesn't look like friendly banter / competition to me!

NO more silly than what Rosberg did.
These Brits get around abit, dont they ?
hehe
It took Alonso years to regain his reputation, well into 2012, for events that unfolded during the summer of 2007. Now Rosberg wasn't anywhere near as bad nor as prolonged and certainly not deserving of being boo'd on the podium, but I don't think this will stop any time soon.
I also think its not gone unnoticed by Merc and the marketing team/sponsers

Mobs don't work like that. They now believe he's an acceptable target. And people love to pick on a target when they believe it's acceptable.

Does anyone know what the argument was in the Williams pit stop? I couldn't see anything at the time.
Williams are saying that it was "banter" and the result of friendly competition between the different wheels - each wheel team tries to be the quickest.

Commentators are saying that it looked far from friendly.
Thanks for that.

I'm with the commentators on this one.

That's virtually the definition of a mob. They have a common idea and feed off each others actions. He's stuck with teh boos until he does something the mob sees as worthy.

I don't see it as vindictive, racialist or mob rule. It is, most likely, a bit of fun.

Haven't we all been to events where the crowd picks on someone for no other reasons than they were handy.

I was at a rugby match, good natured and a good game. The official photographer said something to a linesman and one of the crowd from the away side told him to shut up and carry on taking pictures. He had a go back and by midway through the half spectators from all sides were chivvying him. For the second half he had to go to the other side of the pitch, where he was jeered.

In the bar afterwards he had a laugh with us.

It was just one of those things. I'd never seen it before at a rugby match, nor since.

Rosberg's 'mistake' was to have a go back and suggest it was British supporters only. In a way he asked for it. He just, like the photographer, made it worse.

Really? I know many who never stopped thinking Alonso was, and is, as good as it gets and saw him do nothing worse than Hamilton and a lot less than others. We all have a view but we shouldn't make the mistake that our own views are accepted and widespread.

As for Rosberg, what he did, IMO, was next to nothing and is next to nothing to other than a keen Hamilton supporter. That's OK but they really should find something better to do with their lives.

No he was a silly boy that is for sure (sticking to F1 speak)...

BUT, he's been punished, and I am pretty sure his Mojo has taken a hit on top. I think enough is enough now on the boos though.

I suspect his pride and confidence has taken another knock when he hears that Lauda said that Lewis was worth his money, no doubt about it!! That has to hurt.
If his 'pride and confidence' wasn't destroyed by what Lauda said when he recruited Hamilton, then I doubt it will be now.

Rosberg just needs to prove himself without luck being on his side if he wants to gain respect.

If he wins the championship due to double points it will only get worse for him, but that's Ecclestone's fault.

Ok I never said mob rule. And yes the mob are most likely doing it for a bit of fun. But they are only doing it because they are a group. If one person went boo. And the rest turned to them and said "that's not on". They'd stop. But it's fun so they join in, and more join in. And you get yourself a mob.

Mob: a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence.

Yep. A large crowd of people. Check. Disorderly. Check. Intent on causing trouble (not serious but they are hardly doing it to help Rosberg). Check.

It's the correct word used correctly.

Decent enough race imo today, plenty of good close racing down the field again. I just feel like we're being robbed of some good battles at the front with the constant Merc issues at the moment. Let's hope the next 5 races have some good hard racing for the championship.

A large group of fans, chanting a single word at a player who they deem to have "wronged" another. It's a higher class of mob I'll give you. But the structure of it is the same.

They'll stop when he does something to gain their "respect".

They won't though. Just in the same way that people will continue to come on here and moan about the boos. I really think Nico is a bit shocked that his normally perfect PR smoothness back fired. He only had to either appologise and say it was a minor error with very unfortunate consequences, or say he wasn't going to yield and accept the 'bad boy image' consequences. His political 'I've nothing to say' approach was always going to wind everyone up. I think this will follow him for a long time so he needs to learn to ignore it or to enjoy playing the villain. I'm sure he'll cope.

Close racing? No just cars stuck behind each other and even when the car at the front of the train had worn out tyres the others were still stuck behind, a procession not a race due to the nature of the circuit.

I was lucky enough to be at Monza and was on the track, near but not quite in front of, the podium when Rosberg was booed (and yes I'm a Hamilton fan and no I didn't boo) but using your "mob" definition at Monza;
A large crowd - yes, very.
Disorderly - certainly not, very friendly, no hint of any problems at all.
Intent on causing trouble - no way, it was a very peaceful, cosmopolitan party atmosphere.

Not a mob by any definition.

Back to McLaren and their struggles, this won't help : http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/mclaren-lo...

They've lost the Johnnie Walker sponsorship to Bernie, it will now be the official whiskey of F1.
