The Official 2014 Singapore GP Thread ***Spoilers***
Discussion
Easily the most dull race of the season so far, but I'm pleased it's brought the championship back to life. Also good to Ferrari looking better.
I think this just proves that street circuits don't make good races! The Williams pit stop incident is bizarre. It definitely doesn't look like friendly banter / competition to me!

Indeed, this boo-ing of Rosberg or celebrating his failures surely is now a bit silly getting?
NO more silly than what Rosberg did. These Brits get around abit, dont they ?

Does anyone know what the argument was in the Williams pit stop? I couldn't see anything at the time.
Williams are saying that it was "banter" and the result of friendly competition between the different wheels - each wheel team tries to be the quickest. Commentators are saying that it looked far from friendly.
I'm with the commentators on this one.

Point taken, I think now the scores are level it will drop off ?
Mobs don't work like that. They now believe he's an acceptable target. And people love to pick on a target when they believe it's acceptable.007 VXR said:

Haven't we all been to events where the crowd picks on someone for no other reasons than they were handy.
I was at a rugby match, good natured and a good game. The official photographer said something to a linesman and one of the crowd from the away side told him to shut up and carry on taking pictures. He had a go back and by midway through the half spectators from all sides were chivvying him. For the second half he had to go to the other side of the pitch, where he was jeered.
In the bar afterwards he had a laugh with us.
It was just one of those things. I'd never seen it before at a rugby match, nor since.
Rosberg's 'mistake' was to have a go back and suggest it was British supporters only. In a way he asked for it. He just, like the photographer, made it worse.

As for Rosberg, what he did, IMO, was next to nothing and is next to nothing to other than a keen Hamilton supporter. That's OK but they really should find something better to do with their lives.

No he was a silly boy that is for sure (sticking to F1 speak)... These Brits get around abit, dont they ?
BUT, he's been punished, and I am pretty sure his Mojo has taken a hit on top. I think enough is enough now on the boos though.
I suspect his pride and confidence has taken another knock when he hears that Lauda said that Lewis was worth his money, no doubt about it!! That has to hurt.

Ok I never said mob rule. And yes the mob are most likely doing it for a bit of fun. But they are only doing it because they are a group. If one person went boo. And the rest turned to them and said "that's not on". They'd stop. But it's fun so they join in, and more join in. And you get yourself a mob.Mob: a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence.
Yep. A large crowd of people. Check. Disorderly. Check. Intent on causing trouble (not serious but they are hardly doing it to help Rosberg). Check.
It's the correct word used correctly.

Nope still dont see it!
This is not football......
A large group of fans, chanting a single word at a player who they deem to have "wronged" another. It's a higher class of mob I'll give you. But the structure of it is the same. This is not football......
They'll stop when he does something to gain their "respect".

Really? I know many who never stopped thinking Alonso was, and is, as good as it gets and saw him do nothing worse than Hamilton and a lot less than others. We all have a view but we shouldn't make the mistake that our own views are accepted and widespread.

They won't though. Just in the same way that people will continue to come on here and moan about the boos. I really think Nico is a bit shocked that his normally perfect PR smoothness back fired. He only had to either appologise and say it was a minor error with very unfortunate consequences, or say he wasn't going to yield and accept the 'bad boy image' consequences. His political 'I've nothing to say' approach was always going to wind everyone up. I think this will follow him for a long time so he needs to learn to ignore it or to enjoy playing the villain. I'm sure he'll cope.As for Rosberg, what he did, IMO, was next to nothing and is next to nothing to other than a keen Hamilton supporter. Decent enough race imo today, plenty of good close racing down the field again. I just feel like we're being robbed of some good battles at the front with the constant Merc issues at the moment. Let's hope the next 5 races have some good hard racing for the championship.
Close racing? No just cars stuck behind each other and even when the car at the front of the train had worn out tyres the others were still stuck behind, a procession not a race due to the nature of the circuit.Munter said:

A large crowd - yes, very.
Disorderly - certainly not, very friendly, no hint of any problems at all.
Intent on causing trouble - no way, it was a very peaceful, cosmopolitan party atmosphere.
Not a mob by any definition.
